You don't know everyone, so as usual you are not qualified to make that claim.

LOL.

Hilarious.

And you don't know Aristotle -- otherwise, you would've been able to use some logic to see how anyone who studies nature would know more than he did.

This next statement is not for Agonaces (who wouldn't dare pay attention to it), but to state the obvious: Every single person who studies nature can quite easily know more than Aristotle, by virtue of the fact that they already have the sum total of his knowledge as a starting point.

LOL.

If you only knew how ironic this is.

I guess they didn't teach you that Aristotle invented logic.

This is absurd. You don't know the sum total of his knowledge.

Now tell me about scientific method in ancient times
What do you want to know about it?

The scientific method was more advanced in ancient times than it is today.

"He [Democritus] said that the ordered worlds are boundless and differ in size, and that in some there is neither sun nor moon, but that in others, both are greater than with us, and yet with others more in number. And that the intervals between the ordered worlds are unequal, here more and there less, and that some increase, others flourish and others decay, and here they come into being and there they are eclipsed. But that they are destroyed by colliding with one another. And that some ordered worlds are bare of animals and plants and all water." -- Hippolytus, priest, 2nd century

This is absurd. You don't know the sum total of his knowledge.

Not off the top of my head, but anything he knew that was worth knowing can be found at your local bookstore.

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=Aristotlehttp://productsearch.barnesandnoble...store=BOOK&WRD=aristotle&box=aristotle&pos=-1
http://productsearch.barnesandnoble...store=BOOK&WRD=aristotle&box=aristotle&pos=-1

See? you can read in a couple of weeks what it took him a lifetime to discover!

As an extra added bonus, you can even buy books from the people who can correct what he got wrong! What a deal!

Aristotle would laugh at your fallacies.

A pity that with all those bookstores you haven't bothered to learn a single thing from Aristotle.

But then again how could you?

You think you know everything and you also think the ancients were mentally retarded subhumans.

Why should I? I've learned from the people who were smarter than he was.

Do I now? I guess you never learned anything about "strawman fallacy" from Aristotle -- or from anyone else.

Name one person.

Every single man, woman, and child who's ever read Aristotle -- you'll understand if I choose not to name them all.

That is my conclusion. And I would suspect the conclusion of a great many others.

Aristotle would laugh at your fallacies -- after all, why should the rest of the world have all the fun?

I asked you to name one person, you failed to do so and suggested a swarm of unnamed people.

I'm guessing you've also never read Plato.

"When I ask you for one virtue, you present me with a swarm of them..." -- Socrates, Meno

But then again, why would someone like you read Plato?

What did he know anyway?

Anyone who was born yesterday or before is an unevolved mentally retarded subhuman right?

Perhaps if you speant more time understanding great people as opposed to parroting them, there might be hope for you.

Wrong -- but who am I to challenge your mistaken worldviews?

So maybe it was used as a garbage dump. Or maybe they did camp out in caves for recreation, as we camp out. Regardless, even if they did live in them, I know I wouldn't want to be called a "houseman". I find the term "caveman" offensive. To so narrowly define a class of people by their type of dwelling is an insult to their dignity, and borders on being a violation of their civil rights. Just because they didn't have the fancy gadgets you have doesn't mean they didn't lead rich, multi-faceted, fulfilling lives. I have half a mind to report this whole thread for its gross insensitivity. You people make me sick. And grind my gears. And etc.

What a silly and hysterical overreaction.

First of all, I wonder who you''re reacting to. As far as I can see, the only ones in this thread who've called them cavemen is the OP and AV. I don't see anyone denying that they had rich, multi-faceted and fulfilling lives.

That said, I personally wouldn't mind being called a houseman. I live in a house, and I'm a man, so I'm a houseman. Labels like these are common throughout society. I also freely label myself an atheist, just as you label yourself a christian, but I'm sure there is much more to our personalities than the labels alone signify.

Peter :)

I sure hope they didn't because it isn't true. But if that's what they taught you, I'd ask for a tuition refund if I were you.

The fact is, in India Medhatithi Gautama (c. 6th century BCE) founded the anviksiki school of logic. Aristotle didn't come along until 384 BCE. Of course this fact can be easily refuted by one of your, "LOL," "Wow. Hilarious," or "ROFL"s.

Gotta say A of S, you may not be the most informed guy around here, but you're certainly the most entertaining. Keep it up.
Logic is a Greek word not an Indian word.

Allow me to quote your infallible atheist Holy Scriptures.

Logic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The earliest sustained work on the subject of logic is that of Aristotle

You almost had me rolling on the floor with that.

I get it; the only way to get out of your gaff is by playing a ludicrous language card. But if that's all ya got then that's all ya got.

Allow me to quote your infallible atheist Holy Scriptures.

Logic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
And allow me highlight your quoted piece:
"The earliest sustained work on the subject of logic is that of Aristotle"

Now, if you had originally qualified your claim by saying "I guess they didn't teach you that Aristotle invented The earliest sustained work logic." you'd have a point. But you didn't, so you don't. Reading comprehension, dear A of S, reading comprehension.

Logikos is Greek.

Aristotle was the first man in recorded history to formalize what we now call Logic.

Logic and Aristotle are synonymous.

If Medhatithi Gautama was practicing Greek Logikos in India (we have no idea since he has no texts that survive) he probably learned it from Pythagoras and Democritus when they travelled to India in the 6th-5th centuries B.C.

However, Aristotle was the first man in recorded history to formalize what we now call Logic.

How do you know god doesn't look like a caveman, and man, in his arrogance, thought he could do better?

There never were "cave men".
Not any more than there are "Super 8 men" or "Motel 6" men.
Caves have always been just a temporary place to get warm.
Man has never really lived in caves. It's a Myth.

Some people do live in hotels, and these people did live in caves. We have found evidence of long term hearths and garbage dumps nearby. Also in the same era there were no signs of larger towns or cities.

So do you have any evidence to back up this lack of 'Cave men'?
