  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

a friend of mine who is orthodox once told me a a prank that was pulled on a new priest at his first mass. :) They put popcorn in the inscensor :D I couldn't help but laugh . . . .
Probably made quite a mess...

What is the craziest thing you'd ever do on a dare?
Ski down Everest while simultaneously reading the works of Charles Dickens and singing "Always look on the Bright Side of life."

do you always look on the bright side of life? and did you buy the soundtrack to spamalot?
No and no...
I have an alarming tendency to think negatively instinctively, as an impulse, without clear reasoning. It's only over the last few years that I have become aware of this and battled against it to try and again a more realistic balanced view on life. I succeed some of the time, but I have a constant battle over my thoughst and feelings that seem to want to drive me in an Eeyore like universe, where nothing is bright and things almost always go wrong.

I find laughing at myself has helped, at the absurdity that some of my thoughts seem to lead to, as does Monty Python, bringing me to Spammalot.
I should have brought the sound track to Spammalot, son2 would have relished it, but as its coming to the UK soon, I expect it'll be all over the place here. It'll give me a little surprise to get him for Christmas.

I'd be the age I am now...
Being younger again would mean losing some of the things I have learnt and as I am continually finding out, I always have a new lesson that I have to work through.
Besides which, 47 is a pretty cool age to be. I can start to be more eccentric in dress and manner than I already am and people just start to put it down to old age...
Whereas before they just put it down to me being somewhat odd and eccentric...

I think I have a degree of scepticism about me in that, for example, I tend to like to check out stories/quotes reported as being said by someone before taking it as fact. I think when younger I tended to accept things at face value and I don't think I do that any more...

Have you ever ridden in a hot air balloon or on a bicycle built for two?
No
I'd like to though.
I've been to a Hot Air festival near hear a few times where they have over 100 going up in an hour- some of them amazing shapes.
I'd be happy going on a bike like that as long as I could go on the back...

The city I work in had a balloon festival this weekend. Friday and Saturday the weather didn't cooperate, but Sunday they were able to launch. I'll try and find you a link. :)

That'd be really cool!
I haven't got any photos of the festicval on this computer and I only have a scanner out of the ark, otherwise I'd share one of the hundreds of photos I've got of the bristol festival...

Aha! Found the link. Please enjoy.
