Pigs and cows both smell pretty bad and we eat them all the time.
What are you talking about? Cow flop barely has a smell. I can smell a commercial pig farm from miles away; and I can't breath through my nose until miles after I pass one.

I don't eat pigs. They're treif. If they were somehow not treif; I still wouldn't eat them. They lay in their filth. They eat filth; and they carry brain eating worms.

Commercial facilities aren't ideal for animals or fish for that matter. The conditions are pretty bad. Small producers are best for the latter and variety. There's a lot of things you'll never find in a store that isn't available unless you raise it or buy it yourself.

I like Berkshire pork. It's very tasty. The Mangalitsa is fattier and I'd want it for leaf lard.

I am now never ever eating anything in a restaurant in New York....

I will definitely not be making any tourist stops there...

Horrific.

That is flat out gross.

It makes sense....

There were no cows, pigs, or other of the sort of staple domesticated animals you might eat known in Europe, Africa, and Asia in the Americas prior to contact with Europeans.

I think the largest domesticated animal maybe was the alpaca or llama which was more for it's coat than anything tmk.

So the Guinea Pigs were quite literally a common easily domesticated source of protein for many native American groups south of the Midwestern plains where buffalo and deer would have been hunted.

The only thing he debunked were claims about where it was happening, not what the animal was.

And he repeated the lie about crime being "through the roof."

Oh, and now he's blaming his lies and misinformation on poor parenting from liberals. Nice

Pigs and cows both smell pretty bad and we eat them all the time.

Squirrels are rodents and lots of people eat them.

Most bigger cities have ethnic or exotic meat markets where you can get stuff like this. I don't know where one would go in NYC, but Savenor's in Boston could probably source them. Here in Baltimore, there's a burger place that specializes in exotic burgers like camel and kangaroo. For something that appeals to a less affluent crowd, I'd probably start at H-Mart.

Why do you assume they're using reclaimed pallet wood?

Is this even an argument that you want to make?

Obviously people can and do eat things like rats in many nations. I'm not going to argue that there's nothing disgusting cows or pigs...or even chicken.

But wouldn't we both choose a hamburger made of cow instead of rat if we walked into a restaurant that offered both? That's not some wild statement is it?

Certainly you don't have to argue for rat kebabs even if you don't really care if some other person eats it, do you?

All due respect....you're from Baltimore, not me, but it really does look like crime is up in Baltimore....not down.

Fortunately, it looks like the cause is really only 1 problem instead of the 2 or 3 in other large cities. Your police force is understaffed and struggling to find new police. This is the general trend everywhere after BLM scammed everyone into giving them money for the occasional bad cop or wrongful shooting. Police recruitment is down....police retirement or quitting is still up.

Other cities have it worse. Many have foolishly passed laws that let "nonviolent" criminals back onto the streets in days or less without bail....and unsurprisingly, they repeat their crimes. Police end up justifiably not wasting their time even pursuing these criminals after enough releases so it doesn't get addressed. In the worst case scenarios like Oakland....the DA is some woke moron who literally avoids prosecuting almost every crime possible....even violent crimes much of the time. Even a Democrat as far left as Gavin Newsom is struggling to remove her because of the sheer level of incompetence that's devastated that city.

If crime is up in your city (as it appears to be) for the same reason it appears to be up in most big cities (demoralized, demotivated, and understaffed police) why would you believe crime is down?

Even if it I'd down for example, in 2023....it's only in comparison to 2022....not the 20 years preceding Biden's administration. It might not even actually be down in comparison to 2022 because Biden decided for some reason (I'm sure I can't guess what reason) to change how crime is reported....and the statistical measure we use based on people claiming to be victims of crime is way up....but again, because of lack of police and the damage done by the BLM scam, that's likely because they're not getting called or responding to calls.

There is an element of black magic and voo doo in Haiti that is very real. It would be very irresponsible to think that none of those people brought that religion with them,

I'm pretty sure that goats and chickens tend to be the main sacrificial animals but I'm not sure.

Voodoo doesn't seem to be as consistent as other religions.

I’m no statistician, but even I know that it’s not kosher to draw a trend from the fluctuations of a single year. Fells Point (where a lot of bars are) having only one aggravated assault in 2022? lol, ok. That’s even harder to swallow than the harbor water.

I live on the boundary of one of the neighborhoods listed in the report. There are ebbs and flows to everything, every year.

Last I looked, out murders were down over 30% from last year and on track to be under 200/yr for the first time in something like a couple decades.

I don’t really care what other people eat; I don’t even care if people eat cats and dogs. Our perceptions of which animals are okay to eat is mostly a matter of what we’re used to. While I may not opt for the guinea pig unless I was in the mood for a novelty, I don’t think it’s necessarily gross, especially when our culture still considers it “fancy” to force feed a goose in order to grind its fatty liver into a spread.

Not even bacon?

I was saved for a long time before I tried any pork products.

My first experience was with Apple Wood smoked bacon, thick sliced.

I eat pork now. That's quite delicious... I can see why bacon is an actual thing.

I do not expect to be worried however, about whether I'm being served a rodent at any restaurant or food vendors in America. We have laws...

People need to do that whole when in Rome thing or go back to where such is the cultural norm.

Yes, they do so with birds, it was why certain town residents were upset. One woman said they were making their "evil stew" with the birds from the park. That didn't sound to me like she thought they were being eaten as food.

No one thinks dinner is an evil stew.

Possibly. But it's no excuse to demonize them.

I had a pet guinea pig when I was a child. We kept in the garage because it smelled so bad. We had to clean the cage often or the smell would permeate the house. When it comes to eating them, I'm not sure which is worse, rats or guinea pigs; but it's rare that people keep rats as pets. I don't go grocery shopping for rodents at the pet store. Gross!

Roasted Guinea Pig....from my trip to Cusco, Peru. : )

Right....but that is what the mainstream national media means when they say "crime is down". They don't mean "relative to the last 20 years averages" they mean "from last year".

Fells Point (where a lot of bars are) having only one aggravated assault in 2022? lol, ok. That’s even harder to swallow than the harbor water.

Seriously? Is that reported? Arrested? Convicted?

I live on the boundary of one of the neighborhoods listed in the report. There are ebbs and flows to everything, every year.

Sure. I'm not going to argue against that. I'm not from Baltimore, I don't recall ever being in Baltimore, I just know it's reputation. It's not Gary Indiana....it's not East Cleveland or East St Louis. It's not exactly a playground though.

Last I looked, out murders were down over 30% from last year and on track to be under 200/yr for the first time in something like a couple decades.

What are they tracking though? Murder convictions? Reported murders?

Well...ok...stew isn't inherently evil unless it involves orphans or something like that lol.

It's been awhile since my atheist tour of world religion days where I cared enough to actually look closely at what various religions practice and preach....but if I recall correctly, voodoo isn't one of these "scheduled" religions. Does that make sense? They have holidays, and they have celebrations, but the ritual sacrifices are for when you want something to happen. Like a rain dance. I don't think it's one of these religious beliefs that requires a goat to be vivisected every 2nd Thursday of the month....you know?

I'm not trying to nitpick or anything. It's just not as likely a reason for whatever the locals believe is happening as hunger is. If they're eating the geese that elderly people used to feed at the local pond, and snatching up roadkill for some protein, that seems to indicate a hunger issue and not a religious one.

Obviously, we aren't going to know for sure.

What we do know for sure is that these so called "news sources" don't really engage in news gathering anymore. They're calling up the governor (who is in need of federal aid for the problem) and calling up the mayor or city manager (who again, wants money from the federal government) and running with whatever these idiots say. That's a pretty significant conflict of interest. If the federal government is trying to win an election and doesn't want these stories getting out...this is what it looks like.
