  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've noticed that the Catholic Channel (the radio station) carries a lot of Notre Dame games. Right or wrong, I think there's a sense of ownership and belonging related to Notre Dame among many Catholics, regardless of whether they or anyone in their family attended there.

Nebraska in the Big 10 is gonna be really awkward :/

Very strange indeed. With Nebraska in the Big 10, Oklahoma in the SEC and Texas in the PAC-10 it's going to be just plain odd. OU might go to the PAC-10 with Texas though. That will still be strange.

I'm a big UT fan, not having the annual rivalry with OU would be terrible. OU should go to the Pac-10, although it would be fun to watch them get completely exposed in the SEC. :D

I think OU will go to the PAC-10. However, the SEC is trying to get them now that they are being wedged loose by the collapse of teh Big 12. The SEC is after A&M as well. Texas to teh Pac-10 is basically a done deal I hear.

OU and A&M would be colossal failures in the SEC. A&M has no defense and would get run over by a decent running team, same for OU although they are a bit better. Texas IMO would do OK in both. Wouldn't win the SEC this year but I think they'd definitely be the favorites in the pac-10, no one looks dominant there this year.

even the US?

Sure. Why not? Besides, last time we beat you 2-1 and they weren't even trying all that hard.

There are a few rules in football:
- Every football fan wants their own country to win.
- Failing that, there are a few other options:
- The British don't want the French to win, or the Germans.
- The Dutch don't want the Germans to win.
- The Germans don't want the Dutch or the French to win.
- The Italians don't want anyone else to win.
- Portugal doesn't want Spain to win.
- Everybody likes Sweden, but not enough to let them win.

And anyhoodle, title favorite England failed to beat you guys. That bodes well.

As long as you don't beat Ze NezzerlandZ. Then again, we won't have to play against you people until we hit the semifinals, if we get that far.

DD,

The answer is yes. It's an opportunity for ND to return to respectability. With Kelly coaching they could make a difference but they need a conference and the Big 10 is a natural fit.

But then, I'm a Michigan fan and i am loving this (I always thought Nebraska belonged in the conference).
