CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Football is too much of Notre Dame's identity. It would be nice if they could just ditch their sports program for five or so years and get proper focus back. But that'd be unfair to the athletes and South Bend/Mishawaka would have their heads so it won't happen.

I'm going to say yes....that would put a lot of my favorite teams in the same conference and would make for some good games!

There is MAJOR realignment going on in College football right now. Nebraska just left the Big 12 for the Big 10. Colorado just left the Big 12 for the Pac 10. Boise State just left the WAC for the Mountain West. Mizzou is trying to get into the Big 10. OU is being courted by both the SEC and the PAC-10. Texas is probably going to join the PAC-10 next week. Rumor has it that Notre Dame might join the Big ten. So it's going to be an interesting summer.

Nah, they benefit so much from not being in a conference. They can get a BCS bid at 9-3 and don't even have to worry about losing to Ohio St or Penn State most years.

who gave Obama a honorary degree, for what, I don't really know... but they are Catholic in name only right now... but even if they were the most Catholic thing in town- how does their football team being in a certain conference relate to Catholicism itself?
