Well, technically, since over 50% of all Christians in the world are Catholic, wouldn't that make Catholicism the norm? (I know, I know, America is mainly Protestant ::edit- or the UK; sorry for assuming the OP was an American!:
I'm a convert from atheism, and before that, Protestantism. My family is Seventh-day Adventist, which is a brand of Protestantism that teaches that the Pope is the Antichrist, the Catholic Church is the harlot of Babylon, and that Jesuits will be coming for Protestants' heads some time in the near future.
edit- I converted mainly because the Catholic Church has the only sensical claims to historicity. I'd hate to be a Protestant anywhere between the years of 33 and 1517 A.D. (and even so, most modern Protestants would think the original Protestant churches to be too Catholic.) Once you fully grasp that notion, you'll realize that that's a HUGE amount of time for Christianity to just be wrong and be suspicious when a couple of hokeys suddenly discover the "true meaning of the Bible." I believe that God intended His Church to stay, and that Jesus' followers got it right the first time.
As for how I feel, I feel great. I highly prefer the traditional form of worship to the happy-go-lucky Christian rock concerts that the few Christian friends I have enjoy. It's helped me be more awake and focused on the mystery of, among other things, God's incarnation and His passion for us.
