  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Okay so I'd like to bathe my cat but I need some tips. Also what kind of cat shampoo is the best (preferbly a Canadian recommendation).

My cat is in indoor cat with alot of white on her and I haven't had my friend come up to bath her in a little while.

Thanks

Crystal:)

Cats usally don't need baths because they clean themselves. I only bath my cats when they get outside or have fleas. But there is nothing cutier than a wet cat!

As for tips, it is a very hard, and fun experience! ;)

My cat doesn't do to bad in the bath. Two people do it though. One person holds him down while the other bathes him. It is an interesting experience. I wouldn't neccesarily call it fun. As far as the shampoo goes, we use pretty much any type of cat shampoo. Baby shampoo works well too. I guess it depends on why you're giving the cat a bath though. If it's because of fleas, I'd break down and get a better flea shampoo.

I use one hand to hold the front legs securely and the other to rise wahs and rinse

i get a few scatches sometimes, but not always, whats harest for me is when they start howling and are scared and their hearts beat really fast..and look at YOU for help.. breaks my heart

luckily i dont have to bath my three girls often, only if they get fleas, which they are indoor only but sometimes the fleas come on on shoes and find them in the summer,
and if some reason they get something on their fur they dont shouldnt loick off by accident they get a bath.

I have a shampoo that is supposed to help with hairballs and make thei coat shiney it has little capsules in it, i have no idea the brand, i got it from walmart lol

Hey, Crystal...I have eight indoor kitties...and to be honest, I only bathe them once a month.Even though, they do clean themselves, dust, skin oil, and saliva build up to form dander..which I am highly allergic to, so I have to bathe them.

I have a real heart for animals. Proverbs says the righteous man regards the life of his animals. Most of our babies are rescue strays.

At any rate, when I bathe them, I have to hold them by the scruff of the neck. This temporarily paralyzes them so they won't move around and hurt themselves (not to mention me :) ). This is commonly what male cats do in order to mate (they bite the scruff of the neck so the female cat won't move and hurt both of them). Then, I use a spray spout to wash them (just a sink of water makes it harder)..and I do it fast...because you have very little time before the kitty breaks loose and runs off. :D Hope this helps!

Thank you awife! Well I did it on monday night and one out of two cats was a successful bath!

My cat is VERY strong and we clipped her claws before bathing her and did the same for my bfs cat. I have to say that even for indoors cats they needed the baths. My cat is a dilute calico meaning she's mostly white and her fur was off white before I put her in now she's shiny and white again.

So I have to say that once a month they will be getting bathed. With the amount of fur that came off it's safe to say this might cut down on hairballs.

Crystal :)
