I was talking to this guy about cartoons and he told me that cartoon characters are inspired by real demons, he saw that from African Christian testimonies, they had visions of stuff like that. Peniel Ngonde is an example. Should I listen to people like Peniel Ngonde in terms of cartoons, makeup, and Coca Cola being "evil?" Are cartoon characters actually real demons?

Yeah...no. This sounds like either legalism or a conspiracy theory. Maybe both. People can and will say just about anything.

These things aren’t evil or demonic in and of themselves. Anything can be misapplied, and not everything is a good influence, so use discernment. There’s a difference between being careful and being paranoid. Compare what you hear to Scripture, pray about it, and use wise judgement.

Maybe from time-to-time, but I have also seen animated versions of Bible Stories, Pilgrim's Progress, etc., so they are not all demons.

Why are you so willing to believe such things without challenging them?

I suppose since Peniel posts videos about his visions of Hell, I get shaken since I don't want to go to Hell, (the second death). If Cartoon characters in Biblical films aren't demons, what would be an example of a cartoon character being a real demon? Him from The Powerpuff Girls?

We need to remember that cartoons are produced by the world and are not going to honour Lord Jesus. Disney especially has undertones of witchcraft. There is a distorted picture of adult/child relationships where the child is smarter than the adult.

A lot of cartoons are harmless. I liked to monitor what my kids watched. Some were straight out of the pit of hell, so they were forbidden.

It's a stretch to condemn makeup. It depends on the woman's motivation. Coca Cola is no more evil than any other multi national. That is not much of a recommendation though.

Be led by conscience and common sense. If it doubt, reject it but don't start pushing your views on others. Not drinking coke can save you a few trips to the dentist, for example.

It's not bad to drink Cola every once in a while, but in of itself, no, it's kinda like alcohol.

Welcome! I see you posted two demonic subjects. Is there an underlying concern about Satan's influence and power over our lives? It is good to know that if you "walk in the Holy Spirit" you will know what is of the devil. "Greater is He who is in you than who is in the world." Satan is in the world and you have overcome him with the Blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Don't concern yourself with "things" of this world, focus on Him, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Be blessed.

Reality is seldom so black and white. Genesis 3 tells us the serpent was the most subtle of all the animals in the Garden. And subtlety is still a primary tactic of the devil. Like anything else, cartoon characters can be used for good or for evil. They can be used to teach good moral and spiritual principles, or bad moral and spiritual principles. It depends on how they are used and how we receive them.

The same is true of just about anything. I saw you had a thread on pharmaceuticals. They can be used; they can be abused. You had a thread on pop idols - again, used or abused. Some diversion is good, especially when it is wholesome. But when it is not wholesome - as is very often the case these days - or when we take our "idol" worship too far for our own good, it has become a bad thing.

Paul talks about this in 1Cor:

All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the authority of any. -1Cor 6:12

It's good to try to understand what's going on, but the best answer to many questions about where to draw the line is simply to err on the side of seeking Jesus. Then the questions usually work themselves out automatically. Follow hard after Jesus and you won't go wrong.

What you should be worrying about more is the condition of your heart. You should be righteous in your thoughts and heart. This is what Jesus said about a defiled heart:-
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a man.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. Matthew 15:18-19

Having said that if the message in the cartoon is demonic then don't watch it.
