Absolutely, The Hammerhead at the end of that helo video has always impressed me, let alone the capabilities it brings to the battlefield. There is a really good low level video from Afghanistan on YouTube, but it has profanity on the soundtrack, so I didn't post it.

I have been sick lying down with fever for the past couple days, got a little better today...

Good on all of you for helping your brother's dream become a reality. Part of me wishes that we did our airframe selections like that on our side of the house. I know they used to... Our assignments out of here are hacked out totally, 100% amongst one another, and I do like that. Do you know how your assignment out of the schoolhouse will play out?

It is kind of a mix. He was lucky because not many are interested in a Hook. Can't say the same for the Kiowa in our selection, there was only one and it was gone like the wind leaving behind 2-3 wannabes being forced into other airframes. The irony is, the top and the bottom of the class will be flying the Apache...

The plane has a lot more momentum than a mere gun could overcome.

The A10 slows noticeably when its gun fires so it does have some effect but the recoil is only about half the force of the engines' thrust so it's not going to stop it or make it fly backwards. I'd love to see some live fire footage of an AC130 firing a 105. Wow. Can't wait to get home and watch some videos.

In the F-16, firing the gun caused a slight yaw that we knew about and anticipated. The same thing for my buds in A-10s. I would venture to guess that the gunship's crew has means available for them to compensate for any adverse forces that firing the guns cause.
