  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I can't see why not. It would be no different than the foot soldier. Well, a little different. I can't be sure, but I believe the pilot in an Apache is just a pilot. There's a gunner who mans the gun. Not sure how the missiles are operated though.

Both pilots can operate weapons on the AH-64, the front seater has better avionics for the task of operating sights and weapons.

Passed my final check ride with a 93 today, it was easier than I thought, next Tuesday is the fitness test and then Wednesday is the big day...

Hey, bud. You know my opinion already, but I'll reiterate it here. The Apache has an amazing mission, and many men owe their lives to the men who fly them. The Chinook has capabilities that are absolutely essential, and no one else can perform some of their specific mission sets. The Kiowa gives eyes to the men that need them, and that increased situational awareness is key to battlefield success... The Blackhawk; however, is unique in the opportunities it affords, both to you and your career progression, and the men on the battlefield. From the DAP (yeah!) to the guys flying dustoff, the -60 is there doing the job. Attack, CASEVAC, SOF infil/exfil...

You know the path my career has taken, so take this for what it's worth... You'll love what you fly and the men and women you fly with and for, and you'll see that each mission is important... SO GO FOR BROKE and go with God, wherever that may be! Proud of you, brother.

We're proud that your hard work has paid off, John. If you ever feel like you need someone to talk to about the implications of our chosen career path, I know of a Greek exchange IP Viper Driver who is also an Orthodox Priest - his callsign is, appropriately enough, Priest... Everyone who has flown with him really respects him. He could provide some unique insight, if you ever wanted to talk with him.

Also, we had ONE CHINOOK available to select this morning... I was #3 on the order of merit list so ALL types were available to me, but the kid that wanted the Chinook so bad was #10. Everyone kind of passed over the Chinook, when it was his turn he got up and said Forty-Seven and huge applause broke out...

I believe it might exclude them from being tonsured or ordained

No one can be excluded from tonsure (unless they are simply not cabled to the monastic life.)

Good on all of you for helping your brother's dream become a reality. Part of me wishes that we did our airframe selections like that on our side of the house. I know they used to... Our assignments out of here are hacked out totally, 100% amongst one another, and I do like that. Do you know how your assignment out of the schoolhouse will play out?

Once again, your story over the past several years is inspiring. Thank you for sharing it so willingly.

Very nice. I always liked the Apache. When I was stationed in Korea in 2008, my job was to handle all aircraft not assigned to that base. We were always excited to hear the Apaches landing. We were always allowed to take up close and personal self-tours with them.

Psssssssssssssh, Navy pilots have to land on carriers.

USAF pilots often have to land over hot zones with fire coming up off the end of the runways. Navy...nothing but waves and fish for miles around!
