Hi! I'm a new member who is strugling with a desicion. See, I feel that God has called me to be a social worker who helps councel kids dealing with divorced parents. I've gone thruogh that stuff and a whole lot more. But lately I've grown an intrest in missionary work . I'm passionate about both things. I'm only 14, but this really bothers me. Does anyone have any advice? Is there a way I could do both? Pleae pray for me!!!!:help:

Hi and welcome. Life is long and full of opportunities...and at 14, I would not worry about where you end up or your calling. The fact is, I don't really think life is ever an "either, or" situation. In fact...if I limited myself to where I thought I should have been when I was a teenager, I would never be where I am today. (Maybe not the best testamonial from a guy who is looking into the validity of his faith like I am, I know! lol) But really, that asided, I understand you looking for purpose, and that is good...but don't view your life as a one shot chance to find it. Life changes, you change, and where you want to be will change too. Give it time and make the most of every reasonable opportunity. And if you have more than one, consider yourself lucky, cuz alot of ppl dont have that much. Finally...have fun! You are only young once and one day you will have a job, a car payment, and a mortgage and will opine for the days of your youth.

Hello, i'm a new christian..interesting question you have here, and i'm also asking that same question too. missionary is very great. i have a friend that just recently did his, and he'd seem different, but more desired with faith & helped him with his spiritual walk with the lord. soo yes i'm gonna do that as well to challenge myself to be more christ-like. if you have that sort of challenge to be more chris-like, that's great and I heard this missionary work is to be intense and exciting to be encouraged by other christian...God Bless you!

When you really think about it, aren't they both the same.

The soul hardly ever realizes it, but whether he is a believer or not, his loneliness is realy a homesickness for God. -Hubert van Zeller

Go to college, get the requirements for counseling, and then take off a couple of years for missionary work. When you get back, you can apply for counseling jobs. The missionary work on your resume would look very nice. ;)

Pray real hard, starting now. Make sure you're part of a Bible believing Church, and get involved... teach sunday school to kids or something like that. Also make sure you have accountability, somebody you can talk to.. such as a youth worker or pastor. Make sure you have people who are really praying for you(this one counts!). Finish High School, and go to college... Bible college might not be a bad idea, because it's important to be grounded in the word of truth. Now if you pray consistently over the next 7 years... I am pretty sure you'll know what God wants you to do with your life by the time you finish college (if not sooner).

Now if you're passionate about missions, that means you have a heart for the lost.... Well, there are a lot of lost people around you right now. Start reaching out to them. Your mission field is right here, right now. Start here, and God will open doors as you go.
