Some of you may know this software. When visiting some sites or logging in some sites, it gives you an obscure combination of words or letters (blurred or streaked) you must re-type to confirm you are a human being (not a robot). "Web bots" can be used for either good or bad, but they have one bad thing in common - they use consume bandwidth!
The thing is that I use a proxy-switching. I noticed when I use proxy from countries like 3rd world or developing countries like Poland for example, The letters are nearly unreadable. Captcha has feature to change the letters and everything that came was similarly unreadable!! It took me several attempts before I got it right!
As when I use proxy from developed countries (first world) like UK, Netherlands, France, etc, with the SAME website, Captcha only use 4 digit numbers from pictures that are very easy to read!! I thought it was easy enough to be read by scanning programs!
How is this racist?? If you live (most often a natural born citizen, duh!) in the developed/first world countries, Captcha will make it VERY EASY for you to prove you are not a robot...
If you live in a less fortunate country, you will be even less fortunate to face Captcha giving you not even Mr. Albert Einstein can easily extrapolate!!
How stupid this is??? It only aggragavates innocent or not so computer-savvy users.... People with bad intentions like hackers could **EASILY** circumvent this by proxy switching anyway. And hackers WILL ALWAYS OBSCURE their internet activities which means, whichever country they are in, they will use proxies to hide their real location for example. Like making themselves appear they are in USA, but are actually in China.
My point is that if Captcha has to be effective, it has to use the SAME standard regardless of the region, race, GDP, religion, etc of the country. If you made it hell in poor regions, make it hell also for first world nations, which will make sense.
