• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together.   • Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private.   • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

For about the past four months it seems each time I close my eyes I'm back in the midst of the attack. Its strange because its been over four years since it happened. I just can't figure out why its all coming to surface now. I can't sleep. I can't sleep at night unless I take something and I can't rest during the day. I keep drifting off everytime I become still during the day but I'm right back in the midst of the attack and I wake up startled. Its so crazy that this would come at me so strongly after so long. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

The past is coming back and that will allow you to process what happened at another level. Don't ignore or try to suppress what is happening, but try and understand what you can learn and how to bring that to Jesus for transformation. Healing from abuse can go through several cycles over time, each with increasing insights and freedoms when processed properly. So, don't despair or fear.

I took your advice without knowing you'd given it..The past came back on me and that was my time to give it to Jesus...I did and have slept fine 2 nights in a row now :clap:

That is amazing I am so happy for you! It takes time to get over such hardache. I posted a topic in here called Just wanted to share with you...and its my story. I posted it now a year ago but its really inspiring and can bless you!
