Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Uhhh....I think MURDER would be a pretty good argument against it!
But what about in cases where there is no murder involved?

For example in some tribes it is considered an act of respect to eat one's relatives after they have died. The rationale is usually that that way they will always be with their relatives. It also protects the body from desecration by animals to a much better extent than burial does, since there's no longer a body to desecrate.

The murder argument doesn't fly, as they're likely already dead when you eat them. If you've killed someone and then eaten them it would be murder -- but otherwise it isn't.

Personally I think that cannibalism is amoral -- it evidently isn't hurting anyone, as 'the food' is already dead when it occurs. That being said, I myself would never do it, as I find the concept both disturbing and physically sickening.

Well, yes it may be sickening to some people... I personally find it sickening if they do it for their own imaginative gain or a gain to show strength, rather than a survival instinct.

For example, several years back, in East Timor. The leader of the militias, said he would eat the hearts of australian peace keeping soliders.

That I find sickening, because he wants to use cannabalism for a political and fear gain.

Now, pretend a girl was about to be abused, and a way to scare the "unlawful doer", was to bit his finger off and swallow it to scare that person....then....hmmmm.....

I've always thought that one of the most sickening things about religion was that body of my body, blood of my blood thing. Just thinking about that would make me toss my cookies if I had to put it in my mouth, instead of eating them. UGH. My second problem was using the vicious murder of Jesus as a symbol of religion, the torn and bleeding body on the cross is horrifying. Yet people kiss it! Hang it over their bed, wear it around their neck. It's awful. Why not use a symbol of a man in sandals and a robe walking along, or blessing someone or feeding someone food? The St Francis of Assisi statue is lovely if you ask me, for example. Why that horrid, gruesome depiction? Makes my spine shiver.

This sounds like blasphemy to me, equating cannibalism with Sacred Communion.

IIRC, in the early years of christianity, many people thought that christianity (at that time considered a sect of judaism) was made up of cannibals because of the concept of communion.

The closest argument on Cannabalism, for Christians is lust..ie lust for the flesh.

But what is the main reason from the scriptures that out law this?

It's been said, that women will eat their own children, but doesn't mention eating humans, rather the context sounds more as if it talks about eating it's own flesh.
When it says "Lust of the Flesh" its talking about frornication. the "women eating thier own children" isnt a practice condoned by the Bible its something that was talked about in the bible
