  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My horses know what "t-r-e-a-t" spells, and both they and my dogs get excited when I say "trailer ride" :D

The dogs know what "out" spells, and they run to their respective dishes when I say "f-o-o-d" They immediately tuck their tails and start slinking around when I spell "vet" - it's so funny.

I guess I'm lucky my parents' dog doesn't know what T-R-E-A-T spells, but she sure knows that word! Anytime she hears it, she thinks I'm gonna give her one. Matter of fact, the treats container is in the garage, so anytime I walk into the garage she thinks I'm getting her one. LOL.

Maddie knows her dog friend's name. Our neighbors, the ones that built the house, have a dog named Duke. I'll see her sitting on the deck and I'll say "Where's Duke? Huh? Wanna play with Duke?" Sometimes she'll tilt her head and wag her tail at me.

She also loves the word WALK. :) Sometimes my mom will switch to babytalk with her and ask "Wanna go for a walkie??" It's weird. Anytime you get an excited voice and say "Let's go!" she barks and jumps or takes off running.

My dog can rhyme!!!

My lab Zeus loves to walk and will get his leash for me. (Walk and Leash being the key words). We started saying sock and quiche to talk about going without him knowing what we were talking about. He figured it out though. Funny thing is my little beagle mix Gertie has a favorite sock so when I say Sock she goes for her toy and Zues brings me his leash... :)

Spell - no speak - yes. Unfortunately, he only knows one word and knows what it means - NO. He heard the word no for the fist year of his life as often as he heard his name and picked up on it. I'll say "Commander hush!"
Commanders response "NO!"
I'll say Commander are you okay?"
Commanders Response "noooo.."

That's nothing really. My Pekapoo (Pekinese and poodle mix) was 13 years old, he wanted something and was trying to tell me. I offered him food, to let him outside, nothing pleased him. Finally he lead me into the kitchen, walked over to the sink, looked up at me and said "Wa-wa-wa." I looked at his water dish - it bone dry and he was very thirstily.

All dogs can count and add and subtract. Scientists actually did a study on it last year. Dogs are good with numbers. So why won't mine balance my checkbook?! :D

Lambslove, you just totally sucked the excitement out of my life...I thought my dog was special!? :D

Oh, and if you figure out how to get your dog to balance your checkbook, fill me in on the secret. Maybe my dog can do a better job at it than I do!
