  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can you explain this for me?

Which species do evolutionist believe all species are decendent from? What evidence supports this?

We will probably never narrow it down to a particular extinct species, since it would be a remote unicellular species that left no fossil record and would be extremely difficult to trace genetically as well.

However, there are a number of lines of evidence that support this conclusion. A discussion of some of the major reasons for concluding universal common descent is found here.

Note: from past experience I have learned that understanding this presentation requires a good understanding of scientific method and in particular the role of prediction in testing hypotheses, so rather than jump into particular topics I suggest you begin with the section on scientific method and "What counts as evidence".

Each of these lines of evidence is counted because each is predicted by the theory of evolution and the prediction has been verified by observation.

While one can argue that special creation could produce the same effects, special creation does not predict any of these observations. So they do not count as evidence for creationism.
