It would belong under theololgy.

Labeled...

"c"atholic / "o"rthodox Theology

The description should include that it is "an area to discuss the theology as viewed by Churches who view themselves as "c"atholic / "o"rthodox".

The understanding would be that this is a place for questions and answers where you can expect a reasonably knowledgable answer as given by the Churches themselves.

It is not a place for arguing against their theology. Same as a memeber of un-orthodox theology would expect that catholics would not come into their area of theology to argue.

Perhaps I am still not being clear?

Forgive me...

How would the forum you are proposing differ from this one?

Denomination-specific Theology A special subforum where a thread starter can restrict threads to replies by members of a particular denomination only to discuss denomination-specific theology.

It is not "denominational specific" and would discuss theology that are both shared and are different in the orthodox / catholic Churches. Provided that specific Church congregation claims to be "c"atholic and or "o"rthodox.

Examples would include:

The EO Churches
The Church of Rome
The Anglican Church
The Lutheran Church
The Episcopal Church

etc etc...

IOW's this is a place where the "individual thinking is not the norm", but rather "what the 'Churches' teach" being the norm.

"o"rthodox and "c"atholic Christians do not ascribe to indivual based theology.

It would be the same as prefacing every answering post with... "The Churches teach..."

Thanks for clarifying. I want to ask you about yet another existing forum and how it differs with what you are requesting. The following forum is under faith groups.

Apostolic Churches A forum for members that attend a church with a claim to apostolic succession.

Is that a Theology forum?

The one I am proposing would be under Theology, along side un-orthodox Theology.

I see the two...

un-orthodox Theology

"c"atholic / "o"rthodox Theology

...as being mirror opposites, under "CHRISTIAN THEOLOGY".

Forgive me...

Bump again...

Do we not recognize that the scales are tipped in the Theology section in favor of "unorthodox Theology"?

Is that what we are teaching here?

Is there no value to what the catholic / orthodox christian community has to say about Theology?

Do we devalue it so much that we wont even recognize it's place in forum?

Is that the type of thing Christian Forums should be doing? Tipping the scales?

Forgive me...

IHMO ~ We (catholic /orthodox) would be glad to "stay out of the way" in "General Theology" if we could have a proper voice in the Theology section.

Forgive me...

This is a good idea. It might also help the tone of some of the postings in GT.

It would help secure against threads being hijacked by the inclusion of views which really belong in unorthodox theology. I'm not sure that the Apostolic Churches forum would really be the place for this, as there are others whose theology is orthodox.

peace,

Anglian

Where is "apostolic churches"? Is that a Theology forum?

Found it... That's in faith groups... I'm talking about a "Theology" forum that will counter balance un-orthodox theology.

IOW ~ Why would a person go into faith groups looking for "catholic / orthodox" Theology.

I don't think "apostolic churches" under faith groups fits the bill.

Forgive me...

If you want a completely open debate forum for all Christian members of CF to debate the theology of the Apostolic Churches, then a new forum under Theology could work. However, the Apostolic Churches forum does what you describe already in the first post (i.e. people ask questions, not debate them), and allows debate between members of the Apostolic Churches in that forum.

The focus is the Theology section and what is going on inside GT.

DEBATE IS WHAT THE THEOLOGY SECTION IS ABOUT.
