If you are referring to obeying the Gospel, you can call it "effort" or whatever name you choose. Faith is simply believing God. Repentance is simply turning away from sins and idolatry and turning to the living God.I admire that many of you acknowledge some amount of effort is involved to actually BE saved
None of the above comments have any Scriptural basis. The thoughts expressed above are totally humanistic.God want's your best (effort) against sin, but none of are, or can become completely sinless, God knows each one's own individual ability (against sin) because some are more able and less able, and he (God) knows each one's limitations, and he knows whether or not each one is giving it his or her best, according to each one's ability (against sin) God want's your best, and he knows those who are giving it there best (again within each ones ability, which God knows) from those who are not, and if your not even "trying", God knows that too, and I believe that, yes, if your not even trying, then it is possible to "fall from grace"
More like you were not saved to begin with. Do you recall that little word "Repent"?However you can be unsaved if you choose to leave God. He won't leave you but you can leave Him. If you decide you'd rather go after the world and live a life of pleasure and go after your own will you have left God and aren't saved.
Phil. 1:6
2 Pet 1:10
2 Tim 2:18-19
Heb 10:10-14
Heb 9:12-15
But, you can still "fall in grievous sin" and it does not affect grace, but will affect your earthly life. Remember that grace is not just for the next life. It makes this one much better too.
I think we all seem to high lite what we like the most in the bible that works for our life but forget and or disregard everything elsethesunisout said:The prodigal son was not restored until he repented. Another thing to note is that he left the house deliberately and willingly

I think we all seem to high lite what we like the most in the bible that works for our life but forget and or disregard everything elseFor if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, Hebrews‬ 10‬:26‬ KJV) James also covers a lot of repentance and turning from Christ like a stubborn mule that needs a bit! Believe Jesus died for your sin! yes but ask for forgiveness turn from your sins means to not allow sin to even be a choice in your life after you ask him into your heart! walking with The Lord in your right hand! Yes we are all sinners but that means we all can't live with out sinning once and reacting to hate is something like carnal sin but not willful sin is a choice God gave us to make!! GOD FORBID you lean on grace and sin tomorrow !! God and you know your true heart!!
Read the total bible not just the verse or passage that makes you feel sin is ok cuz it's not. Sin shouldn't even be a desire if your eating his flesh drinking his blood ! Jesus said he who drinks of of me! shall not be thirsty!! You will have eternal life! Drink of him and eat of him That means read the word! Not just a verse or two like food itself !
Daily meditate on that word day and night! Read psalms 1! David is a great example!
No book in the Bible speaks of any man living in sin and is going to not be judge that isn't repented for that sin or being chastened! Or tried! Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Psalms‬ 1‬:1-6‬ KJV)
All of Jesus's parables ?? Nothing ,.. you guys must see something in that!? Leave all of your belongings and fallow me and that man Jesus was talking to , followed that law completely to the t?! Jesus used him self as a lite for us to BE LIKE HIM! When does smoking and drinking and watching fornication on tv or saying the Lords name in vane at all represent what the LORD WANTS us to follow after! I'm sure the seed parable has to come into your minds then!???
My prayer for all the mislead who fallow commentary and preachers more then The Bible itself!
God bless Humbly your sister in Christ
how can you fall from Grace, grace is undeserved unmerited favour?
Paul was dealing with Judaizers and the concision that was preaching Christ and the law and mixing the two together, some of the Galatians believers was falling back into law and he warned them. It's not a heaven or hell thing it's a life thing, there is no life in the law
Sometimes even truly saved people get confused by false teachers and fall back into a legalistic attitude about salvation and start thinking that they have to deserve salvation. When they do, they do not lose their salvation... but they become distressed and fearful and lose their joy. But God will discipline them and at some point renew their faith. I don't think they will remain in a works based belief permanently. God will deliver them eventually.
But people who hold to works for salvation all their lives and never change their minds (repent) reveal themselves to be unbelievers.
A lot of Christians today are definitely living a life of justified sin because they feel they are saved regardless. There are countless passages that speak of repentance to be washed from sin and countless ones that speak of being saved by grace? I truly believe once saved always saved but it is only you and God who can truly tell if your walking with him and not the world. I know we are sinners and will continue but I'm sure I'm not going to heaven if I murder some one / hate some one today and Jesus returns tonight if I don't repent and ask for forgiveness! Unless it's just ok to sin? Idk anymoreJLR1300 said:Hebrews 10:26 has a context and it has to do with a certain situation. The situation was that some of those in the Christian movement were from a Hebrew or Jewish background and they were thinking about going back to Judaism because Christians were being persecuted and they wanted to avoid persecution. So the writer of Hebrews warned them that if they sinned willfully (by renouncing the Christian faith and returning to Judaism) after they had heard the truth preached... there would not be a sacrifice for their sins because only through Christ is a sacrifice available. In the context it is talking about a specific sin... namely, willfully renouncing Christ after having learned the truth of the gospel. He is not saying that after you become a Christian if you commit any sin of any kind you lose your salvation. That is false doctrine. In fact if these Hebrews were to go back to Judaism it would prove that they were never truly saved in the first place. He is not saying that if you have a piece of chocolate cake and you know that you really shouldn't have another piece... because that would be bad for your health... but you go ahead anyway and eat another piece... you lose your salvation because it was a willful sin since you knew better. I don't know who you are talking to in the above sermon. I don't think anyone here said that sin was okay. As for me, I was only speaking of the relationship of repentance and justification. I am quite sure that I made it plain that when we become Christians the Holy Spirit comes into us and He begins leading us into a godly lifestyle and will discipline us if we sin. And who is smoking and drinking and watching fornication on TV and taking the Lord's name in vain?
