• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Vaccination is extremely unlikely to be the cause of autism
(see Peadiatric journals in main libraries dated June to July 2006)

Ongoing research [often covered in a user friendly format can also be found in accesable journals such as Scientific American (USA) and New Scientist (UK) is beginning to point at an anomology within the genetic coding but the extra triggers required to prevent the brain from either establsihing correct synaptic connections or from even developing in very specific areas is unknown.

Trauma can in rare cases can produce autistic traits if the areas in the brain responsible for empathy, communication and imagination are damaged.

The risk of a baby dying from an illness is greater than the risk of them being vaccine damaged.
Only infants with surpressed immune deficencies or true allergies to the manufactoring process ie. anaphylactic response to eggs should not have an egg yolk culturedvaccine.

The best person to talk to over any concerns you have is the doctor who will care for your baby once he or she is born. By all means get information together but ensure you get information from both sides of the arguement and ensure who has commisioned any research that is used to support assertions.

Hope that is of help.

First, i'd like to say Congratulation!!!

now, to me, vaccines was already something i started reconsidering before pregnancy and before any concern with autism. my son is almost 3 and a half and his high functionning autistic. and at birth it was already clear to me i had chosen to refuse any and all vaccines.

i've met a mom at a play group that told me about an autistic kid in the day care where she worked before. to him, and his parent, he was normal before his MMR vaccine, and it was clear to them that it was what triggered it. and i've read other storries like that on the internet. makes me wonder what would my son be like if i had accepted the vaccines like most peoples do. doctors can say what they want, they're not the one going back home whith that kid and living with him from day to day...

i'm really happy i stuck to my gun. even when everybody was putting pressure on me. i felt like everybody that was close to me was against me on that decision.

i also heard that a lot of autistic kids have a lot of health issues... so far, my son's been in verry good health. only a few passing colds, no ear infections or any other infections or even childhood diseases. i think he's more healthy then most "normal" kids that receive all their vaccines.

since we have one autistic kid, vaccines became out of question for our daughter too and future kids. but if you believe there are no sensitivities in the family and want to consider vaccines. there are some that leans toward waiting till 2 years old before to have their children vaccinated. because aparently, it greatly reduce the risk of adverse reaction... by that time, their immune system is stronger. and also try to avoid getting 2 vaccine at once.

that's my 2 cents

Thanks Anygma, I know some people who've been through the same thing...after vaccinations, it was a totally different child and now he's 3 and they're having to tear out a wall and put a 2way mirror to be able to monitor him. My nephew who is almost a year old had his vaccinations and has been sick almost constantly...is it because of vaccines? I don't know...I'm trying to get as educated as I can on both sides.

I'm about to be a father and I've heard that some vaccines greatly enhance the likelihood to get autism. Can anyone share any experience or give me any advice on anything like this?
I have high functioning Autism, I'm 48 and have only recently discovered this condition. My mother told me that I had a reaction to one of my childhood vaccinations. Was my Autism caused by this vaccination? All the serious medical evidence so far says no.

However, there is another important side to vaccination which is often forgotten. These vacines are designed to protect children from very serious illnesses - For instance, Whooping Cough is (apparently) a dreadful disease - not just a bad cough, but much more serious.
My parents, being medically trained, were very clear that whatever the risks of being vaccinated, the dangers associated with being unvaccinated are far higher. With all the scares about vaccination now, these nasty diseases are re-appearing.

It seems ridiculous to me that people should take the big risks associated with these diseases in order to avoid the very small (and completely unproven) risks associated with vaccination. Even if a link is finally proven between Autism and vaccination, I would still chose the vaccinate.

i'm sorry to hear about your friends and family's bad experience with possible connection to vaccines. i think it's very wise to get as inform as you can and make your own decision. and that goes with anything that concerns our kids. i've came to question a lot of things that have been taken for granted for many years now.

i think it can mostly be all wraped up in 2 words... attatchment parenting. and i think that closeness did a lot of good for my autistic son.

also to remember, vaccine can be one factor, but there are other source of toxines that add up also. like the condition of our fishs, pregnant woman has to limit their intake. if you live in an older house, there could be lead in the paint... i also try to avoid all artificial additives in food.

and i thought i'd just share this link with you.

I hope your research will be fruitfull and that you may be blessed with a very healthy baby

I have to agree with the statement that it is very unlikely that vaccines cause autism. There have been several huge studies done where half the children were given the MMR vaccine 9the one usually picked as the offending vaccine) and half were not given it. The rate of autism was the same whether given or not.

Measles can cause serious problems. A good friend of mine was born deaf because her mother, who had not been vaccinated, was exposed to measles while pregnant. It causes blindness as well.

I also have to question what "a reaction to a vaccine" means. It could simply be a low grade temperature. Lots of children have mild reactions and do not get autism.

havn't read the whole thread yet, but I will say that with every
vaccination things got worse for my kids.
I didn't realize what was going on for too long.
If the child has a predisposition towards the autism spectrum
then there is a chance of that pushing them across the
threshold.

research diligently and be much in prayer.

There is so far no causal link between autism and vaccines but there does appear to be some correlation between when vaccines started becoming more required(and when combinations vaccines became common) and a fairly dramatic rise in autism rates. Addidionally there are thousands of anecdotal cases where kids seemed to their parents to be quite typical and then autism symptoms appeared shortly after a vaccine.

Jds, seek TRUTH. Check this video out.

You have to understand who controls the research and who posts the statistics. The vaccination industry is over a $$$$$$ billion $$$$$$$$ industry. Look at the facts, pray about it, ask for God's guidance. After my vaccinations, I had stomach problems, asthma, allergies, loss of muscle control, and I almost died. I could even drink my mom's breat milk, something so natural but my immune system couldn't handle it. On avg. a baby before it hits the age of 2, goes to the hospital 16 times. Isn't being healthy, not going to the doctor?

Why do have have laws such as HIPPA? It's kind of hard to find out exactly what's going on if everything is confidential.

Curezone is a great site! There's so much information in the forums.

If you google autism and heavy metal toxicity, you'll come up with tons of information.

My mother just recently talked to a woman who got her autistic daughter tested for heavy metals and sure enough she had high levels of mercury and lead in her system.

I agree with 2scoops, the conventional health industry/some government agencies pull in billions of dollars per year by treating the *symptoms* of diseases, sicknesses, etc with drugs, while denying the root causes of these issues. They're also in control of many of the statistics and mainstream research, as well as which findings are released to the media.
