Lately, my cutting has been getting worse. I don't know what to do. The other day, I was so upset, I cut 20 times in one day. I see a counselor, but it is not helping. I have already been hospitalized for it. Is there any hope for me? Someone at church told me that by cutting, I am no longer a Christian. I want to stop but can't. I feel like the people in my family think that it is so easy to stop. I sometimes tell them, it is like a drug. It is addicting and you just can't stop. I have been a cutter for 5 years. Does anyone have and advise for me? I really could use some. Thank you.

The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

just because you cut, doesn't make you weak or no longer a christian, it is just your way of dealing with things. It may not be a so called "ideal" way, but what is? We all have things we struggle with, and a lot of people would be surprised how many people do SI, it is not an excuse to do it, but it's hard to stop, keep praying. I'll be praying for you too!

When his child is hurting in anyway that is when Jesus comes to you.
And set yourself small targets to reach in breaking your addiction, ones you can easily reach to boost your belief in yourself. as Bevlina said. it all just baby steps. a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step, and with jesus every step you take he takes a 100 for you.

I know how you feel. I was at one point in time cutting around 40 times a day. But if you really try... It will get better. Try telling yourself to stop... When you feel like you might cut too much... tell yourself it's enough. It helped me. I hope it can help you as well.

yes there is hope for u and just cause u cut doesn't mean u are not a christian. it just means u hit rock bottom and are taking it a diffrent way.{ couse i'm bias considering i used to cut} just remember God loves you and is here for u. talk to Him about your problems. it works. {well it did for me} i'm here for you if u need to talk.
