Hi all,

And my friend who has been praying for me said maybe this is a sign from God or an answer, that he made him have a cold to give me the answer ? Does God do that ?

Some times a cold is just a cold. I wouldn't interpret a single instance of something so minor as a sign from God. Now, if you both get invited to dozens of activities and he gets a cold every time....
But then you could look at the other way, God could have stopped a cold from happening to make us get to meet up and spend time with each other, the only time we do spend time with each other is after church and that's not that long, so it has been a long time since we been invite to event.

Of course, God *could* do either thing, but it doesn't seem to me that He would. Why not just be upfront with this person and ask him out? Better to find out one way or the other if he's interested, no? Maybe he's thinking the same way. It would be awful to miss out because you both were too afraid of rejection to ask.

God gives Christians a wide range of freedom among those in choosing our marriage partner. The only command to a Christian is to "marry only in the Lord."-1 Corinthians 7:39.

God gives us his word and his holy spirit when we ask him of it to give us wisdom as we read in it. And he will give us a trained conscious to determine if a course is right or wrong, including the person we are to marry, if it is a pleasing thing in God's sight or not. Beyond that God does not micromanage our lives. And marriage is a sacred union instituted by God. As long as a couple put God first in their marriage he will bless it and can make it successful. God wants marriages to succeed and people to be happy.

My only suggestion here would be, who does this person love more? If the answer is God then you got a winner. A person who loves God will do the things pleasing to God. If they love anyone else above God then stay away. Even if it is father or mother, or even their perspective marriage mate.

The person does love the Lord that's one of the reason I like him. But my question, above, can God do something to answer your question/prayer that way ?
God does give us a free will choice but I rather have God to help me/guide me and maybe this was one of those ways he answers prayers.

I'd recommend to wait for more signs, never rely on one.

If God is saying something, it's through the passage of time and through patterns that follow the quality of His character.

Individual instances may say "something," but like the practice of relying on one scripture passage to form a teaching, there's a lack of context when interpreting only one sign.

Quite often however, coincidence signs can follow a "creepy" pattern that does not resemble God's mode of operation. So relying on signs from creation isn't always the best practice since it was made subject to sin along with mankind since the beginning.

Hi.. I prayed about the girl I was going out with and God said "what do you want?". We been together about 40 years now so God had nothing what so ever do to with him getting a cold. That comes from the enemy.. so maybe flip it look at it like that.. not God but the enemy ;) don't give up

I said that to my friend that it could have been the enemy stopping him form coming and the reply I got was, God is bigger than the enemy. I suppose time will tell and need more signs. I even said to God can the guy ask me out and then I will know.

No, I don't believe so.
Marriage is far too important to be determined by whether or not two people are in a certain place at a certain time. And God could have just told the man not to go to the meeting - no need to make him suffer with a bad cold.

To be quite honest, I'm not sure that God desires for us to marry certain people.
For me, the most important things would be that both people know and love the Lord, that they like, and love, each other, that they have talked about the future, if they can see themselves being together, what their dreams are, if they want a family and so on.
The first step, I would say, is to tell him that you like him and see what the response is. If it's favourable, go on a date and talk to one another.

I once had a boyfriend who told me that God had told him that I was the one for him. But God hadn't told me that; I was trying to work out how to break up with him.

Even if you prayed to God to guide you and help you in a situation ?

I haven't had this with relationships, but I've had several job/career opportunities where the "signs" have been that God wanted me to be in that place - other people even "confirmed" it. Yet I was not offered the jobs; they didn't happen.
When I was a teenager I was always looking for "signs" that God loved me - which I thought would be, doing well in school, passing exams, having good health etc. None of those things showed that - the cross, and the word of Scripture are proof that God loves me.
Again, it's not the same, but sometimes the things that we, or other people, believe are signs, are not.

With a potential relationship I would have thought the first step was to talk to the person and let them know how you feel, and take it from there.
If they said "I feel the same" or "let's not ruin a good friendship", you will know where you stand.

Stop looking for "signs" and rely more heavily on certainties, like Scripture and your own common sense.

God won't interfere with those who have free will. God put spirt of stupor on some people. Corinthians chapter 2 speaks of those who are spirtual and carnal minded people. This chapter is good study. Isaiah chapter 29 is about those who have spirit of slumber. They will be taught and discipline during the millennium. God's Election have holy spirit, thier spirtual. Documentation, first Peter chapter 1, romans chapter 11, and ephesians chapter 1. The saints are God's elect. I would be careful who you associate with. Those who study sound doctrine won't compromise their values and beliefs with someone who is involved in traditions of men, false doctrine. Thier not compadable. Bottom line. Satan as antichrist will come 6th trump. Would you want spouse in foxhole with you who could compromise your values and beliefs. Think it over. Peace.

What's most important is that your husband will love you. Do not force a man who doesn't want to be with you. Once a man chooses you to be his wife, you can either accept his love for you, submit to him as to the Lord, and accept the role of a loving wife, or reject his love for you in favor of something else. Both of these are direct images of the relationship between man and God.

I think God does protect us from certain people and removes them from our lives, yes. He also puts certain people in our lives.

The short answer is He can. But usually He doesn't if you are determined enough.

A story: shortly after I started my own accounting practice, I was in contact with a prospective client. The engagement would have greatly increased my income at a time when I really needed it. I had an engagement letter ready for signature so I can begin work. But to my shock, they backed out at the last minute - gave a specious reason for doing so. It was a disappointment for sure - I could not understand why any reasonable client would have backed out at the last minute over the issue they raised.

For most of us, the story would end there. Most of the time when a door closes in our face, that's the end of it - but this time was different. About a year-and-a-half later, I hear a familiar name on the radio. It turned out that client had gone out of business six months after they turned me away. One partner was indicted on fraud charges - the other was suing his former accountant. I believe God was protecting me from what would have been an awful situation.

During that time, I brought new business in, and was able to greatly increase my revenue. I did get some bad clients in, but by that time, I had the experience and financial wherewithal to tell them to get lost. In my business, sometimes you have to fire clients.

That's what i was thinking that sometimes these things happen for a reason that I don't understand, yet then sometimes it will become clear later on.
