  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Can children see things we can't?

Tonight my nephew said to me "Auntie Amy I saw a party and a church." And me and his mother laughed but I had this weird sinking feeling he could actually see this happening.

A few hours later I was pondering this, feeling a bit off. Anyway he followed this and pointed to the hallway "Auntie Amy is going to be a ghost in here." And he said she is going to be a ghost.

.. thoughts?

Kids can absorb conversation from TV radio, people talking, you never know what they hear or the source of what they think. Most likely its all local ideas.

Story time:
I remembered having a very vivid dream when I was in first grade. I had dreamed that I brought my cat to school with me. He was with me all day long, except when I got on the school bus to go home, I saw the cat outside the bus window as we were driving away. I was distraught.
About 12 years after that dream, I ran into someone that was a friend of mine at that time. He said to me, "I'll never forget that day you carried an empty paperbag around with you at school telling people that your cat was inside of it." I was shocked because I had thought it was a dream. Moral of the story: children can have such vivid imaginations that it's sometimes spooky!

Children have very active imaginations and also are very very impressionable in regard to what they see have seen on TV and/or what they are told or hear about ghosts.

As a kid, I had a super over-active imagination and thought I saw things all the time (sometimes I still do!) I would just assume that it's his mind running away with him. As it's already been said, children are very impressionable and have vivid imaginations and have a hard time distinguishing between what is real and what is just in their heads.
