At the heart of the Vatican's message is to use our rational faculties and approach such movements with a healthy amount of scepticism.

I, for one, and with the current Pope on this one.

Be very careful Jack...

Thanks. I am careful.

My biggest issue is cable television or FB. Cable I have to avoid sexually explicit shows and commercials because of lust. FB I find myself with wasting time. But, I am fighting a cold right now and can't breath through my nose so I need the rest and the internet is entertainment.

Sorry folks but this is an alien concept to me.

The Catholic Charismatic Renewal had its international conference in Dublin in 1978 . The International Catholic Charismatic Renewal is totally Catholic , and is a movement aimed at a closer union with Christ in the power of the Spirit , using the charisms of the Spirit to build up the Church and oneself .

There are abuses , but there are abuses in all areas of the Church's life , but we don't reject the authentic because some may have a poor grasp of it .
We affirm the authentic by trying to correct bad practices .

I was referring to folk who may bring you down a blind path and mislead you into dangerous thoughts and practices...

I speak in Tongues as well, or at least pray. I do it in private unless I am at a CCR (Catholic Charismatic Meeting) where someone has a Gift to interpret.

What ! I thought you were Radtrad ? :D I love the Charismatic movement, if it wasn't for them, I would have never set foot back in a Catholic church.

i was just wondering because i have been catholic all my life, and i speak in tounges sometimes when i pray, is it normal for the catholics to be blessed in this way of the spirit....

i have gone to other christian groups and they have recieved word from The Holy Spirit and i know it is true because it was about me, and i was just wondering if that was something that could enter into the catholic faith and help the priests in their holy ways...

amen..
Here is a good Charismatic Catholic site to check out:

No argument here. Most Charismatics read their Bibles also. They don't just collect dust. :)
I've never been to a Catholic Charismatic gathering but I read the Bible.

So phhht. :p

ya we had a Cardinal in Boston try that, we ran him out of town. :)

It's just a shame the Vatican took him in...

But al this stuff about speaking in tongues, when in actual fact its gobble-dee-[bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] and there's charaletons claiming to interpret it...?

Come on people. We don't want the Catholic Church to become a laughing stock like these poor misguided souls...:

The man went from being one of the most important prelates in North America to being a tour-guide in Rome.. yea he really came up in life..

He lived in a nice house with staff and dined in some of the finest restaurants in Italy. Most of us plebians would call that living large.

The Vatican should have sent him to Haiti, were he could haved learned to be humble and serve.

I don't care if the man wore thread-of-gold underpants and bathed in the finest French wines in a crystal bath tub.

His power and influence was severely cut. The things of this life are transient. He'll answer to God in the next life. If he has anything to answer for regarding his time in Boston.

So your trying to equate some sect with the Catholic Charismatic movement ?

The gifts of the Holy Spirit are real.

Jesus Teaches Nicodemus

1 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him.”

3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.

The group that my wife and I used to attend (it has been a couple of years) was very cautious. They would not even let us participate until we had taken a course with instruction that was approved. So, I think we were fortunate.

I know some see danger here and there probably is for some. But that is true with all aspects of Christianity. Paul spoke of those weak in the faith and those that were stronger, he was referencing the eating of food that had been offered to idols. I think his main concern was that the stronger in faith not cause the weaker in faith to falter.

my question isnt really about speaking in tounges its about hearing word from God... ive been to more than one church that there they get revelations or a word from God within, and they make something out of it, and sometimes they even have something special to say to me....

i just dont know if the priests have ever had such a gift but some christian groups do have that gift...

I agree. I went to Charismatic services, they were in a Church. Even though it was on a Thursday eveing we had a traditional Mass then we held a healing service. A Priest always presided and often there was a Sister there.
