yes, but the people on wikipedia, try to make themselvs sound smart by using big words, which to be perfectly honest isnt nessecary. so heres my explination:

out father
who art in hevan
hallowed by thy name
thy kingdom come
thy will be done
on earth as it is in hevan
give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our tresspasses
as we forgive those who tresspass against us
and lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil
for thyne is the kingdom and power and glory forever amen

this prayer isnt just a chant:liturgy:, not a sort of meaningless wishing spell, to be perfectly honest i think Jesus meant for us to take what he said and make it personal

now lets take it apart, like the guy from wikipedia, (only with less and smaller words)

our father who art in hevan
simple enough, the hevanly father (God) is in hevan.
Hallowed be thou name
hallowed baisically means blessed or holy, so by saying this your saying to God that you will keep his name holy, lik ein the 2ed? commandment is it?

THY kingdom come, THY will be done
i capsed the THY's because it is important to know that we are on this earth to do Gods will, our wishes come second if anything. by saying THY kingdom come you are saying that you want earth to be like his kingdom, whch is only possible by doing his will, see how that works?

on earth as it is in hevan
not really alot to explain there, we want earth to be like hevan except people will be, you know, alive.
give us this day our daily bread
now unless all you need to survive is god and bread, this isnt intended to be taken literly. our daily bread is what we need to live day-by-day.

and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who tresspass against us.
"let he who has not sinned be the one to throw the first stone" Jesus said that to a crowd anxious to stone an, a uh...prostitute is as good a word as any, the high preists and jewish leaders told jesus to take the first throw, and that was his response. this relates to this because if we dont forgive those who have sinned (or tresspassed) against us, then how can God forgive us?

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
again simple enough, youre asking God nto to tempt you and to take you away from those sources of evil

for thyne is the kingdom and power and the glory forever amen:amen:
again, pretty self-explanatory

so yeah, thats the lords prayer. hope it helped!

Can anyone explain the "Lord's Prayer"?

The simplest, yet most profound explanation of the "Lord's Prayer" is that it is a template for addressing God the Father, and all that entails. The idea of anyone addressing the God of creation as "Father" was once unthinkable. To this day, Jews that read aloud YHWH will say "Adonai" (generic 'lord') and when writing God, write G-d. These practices indicate a sense of awe and distance which are in sharp contrast to Jesus' instruction to pray to "our Father"--an expression that encourages an intimate relationship with our God.

While the word "father" evokes a disturbing image to many people in today's society, this was not the case in Jesus' time. The Lord's Prayer illustrates both the perfect paternity of God and the purpose of prayer. I have used the version most people are familiar with instead of the shortened Biblical version.

The Purpose of Prayer: Connecting to God through confession, worship, praise, thanksgiving, petition and intercession

The Paternity of Prayer: Our Father, who art in heaven (He is a Father to us, including me.)

The Priority of Prayer: Hallowed be thy name (He is someone we look up to.)

The Program of Prayer: Thy will be done on earth (He has a program we can be a part of.)

The Plan of Prayer: As it is in Heaven (He has a purpose and a goal we can believe in.)

The Provision of Prayer: Give us this day, our daily bread (He provides us with the necessities of life.)

The Pardon of Prayer: And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us (He forgives us when we makes mistakes and implores us to do likewise.)

The Protection of Prayer: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil (He keeps us out of trouble and protects us from harm.)

The Proclamation of Prayer: For thine is the Kingdom, the power and the glory, forever and ever, Amen. (Everything belongs to our glorious and omnipotent father, and always will--for sure!)

I first heard the P's of prayer during a radio broadcast of "Grace to You," which does a very good exegesis of Scripture in addition to its "Fire and Brimstone" preaching. The commentary was something I coordinated with the Lord's Prayer for a Bible study. I'm prayerfully considering if I should post an online version of that study.

When looking at the Lords prayer it is wise to look at the complete context in which this prayer is found specifically starting at:
5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one. 14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

Jesus is instructing us not to "publicly" pray like the "hypocrites" or to pray like the wordy pagans, Keeping short, but following his example or template.

Verses 9 Has us Addressing God directly, There isn't a need to pray to or through another person or "saint." In this opening we honor the Name of God. (Like a Formal Greeting)
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,

v.10 we acknowledge God's authority, and show submission to it. We also are praying for the end of the age of man, were God's authority and his will reigns.
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.

v.11 This is where we can ask God to sustain us for the day.
11Give us today our daily bread.

v.12This is where you ask forgiveness of your sin, but it is conditional that you forgive those who sin against you.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.

v.13 is where you ask God to keep you away from sin, and if you should fall into temptation your asking that God will "get you out of trouble."
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

It has already been said that this "prayer" shouldn't be used as a chant or in a vein repetitious manor, but as a template of things to include in your own formal prayers to God. But know if you are just starting out it is OK to use these exact words if you don't know what else to say or do.

Matthew 6:9 - Pray, therefore, like this: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed (kept holy) be Your name.
HALLOWED MEANS RESPECTED OR REVERED. THIS IS AN EXPRESSION OF PRAISE. PRAISE AND WORSHIP ARE THE PRIMARY ACTIVITIES OF HEAVEN. AND SO IT IS TO BE FOR THE BELIEVER HERE ON EARTH. THE MORE WE LIVE AS CITIZENS OF HEAVEN, THE MORE HEAVEN'S ACTIVITIES INFECT OUR LIFESTYLES. WORSHIP IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. EVERYTHING ELSE WE DO IS TO BE AFFECTED BY OUR DEVOTION TO THIS CALL.
Psalm 22:3 - But you are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.
GOD RESPONDS WITH A LITERAL INVASION OF HEAVEN TO EARTH THROUGH THE WORSHIP OF THE BELIEVER. GOD RESPONDS TO THE PRAISES OF HIS PEOPLE AS MENTIONED IN ISAIAH 42:13 "HE SHALL GO FORTH LIKE A MIGHTY MAN; HE SHALL STIR UP HIS ZEAL LIKE A MAN OF WAR. HE SHALL CRY OUT, YES, SHOUT ALOUD; HE SHALL PREVAIL AGAINST HIS ENEMIES."

Matthew 6:10 - Your Kingdom come . Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
THIS IS THE PRIMARY FOCUS FOR ALL PRAYER - IF IT EXISTS IN HEAVEN, IT IS TO BE "LOOSED" ON EARTH. IT'S THE PRAYING CHRISTIAN WHO "LOOSES" HEAVEN'S EXPRESSION HERE. WHEN THE BELIEVER PRAYS ACCORDING TO THE REVEALED WILL OF GOD, FAITH IS SPECIFIC AND FOCUSED. FAITH GRABS HOLD OF THAT REALITY. ENDURING FAITH DOESN'T LET GO. SUCH AN INVASION CAUSES THE CIRCUMSTANCES HERE TO LINE UP WITH HEAVEN.
Matthew 16:19 - I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. (NAS)

Matthew 6:10 - Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
IF IT IS NOT FREE TO EXIST IN HEAVEN, IT MUST BE BOUND HERE - THROUGH PRAYER WE ARE TO EXERCISE THE AUTHORITY GIVEN TO US. EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS HERE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SHADOW OF HEAVEN. IN TURN, EVERY REVELATION THAT GOD GIVES US OF HEAVEN IS TO EQUIP US WITH A PRAYER FOCUS.
Matthew 16:19 - I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. (NAS)
THE PHRASE "SHALL HAVE BEEN" IMPLIES THT WE CAN ONLY BIND OR LOOSE HERE WHAT HAS ALREADY BEEN BOUND OR LOOSED THERE - HEAVEN IS OUR MODEL.

Matthew 6:11 - Give us this day our daily bread.
IS ANY ONE STARVING IN HEAVEN? HEAVEN SETS THE STANDARD FOR A CHRISTIAN'S MATERIAL WORLD - ENOUGH TO SATISFY THE DESIRES BORN OF GOD AND ENOUGH "FOR EVERY GOOD WORK." OUR LEGAL BASIS FOR PROVISION COMES FROM THE HEAVENLY MODEL GIVEN TO US IN CHRIST JESUS: "AND MY GOD SHALL SUPPLY ALL YOUR NEED ACCORDING TO HIS RICHES IN GLORY BY CHRIST JESUS. ACCORDING TO WHAT? HIS RICHES. WHERE? IN GLORY. HEAVEN'S RESOURCES ARE TO AFFECT US HERE AND NOW.
2 Corintinans 9:8 - And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need, be self-sufficient - possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation.

Matthew 6:12 - And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
IS THERE ANY UNFORGIVENESS IN HEAVEN? HEAVEN PROVIDES THE MODEL FOR OUR RELATIONSHIPS HERE ON EARTH. "AND BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER, TENDERHEARTED, FORGIVING ONE ANOTHER, EVEN AS GOD IN CHRIST FORGAVE YOU. THEREFORE BE IMITATORS OF GOD AS DEAR CHILDREN" (EPH. 4:32 & 5:1). THESE VERSES MAKE IT QUITE CLEAR THAT OUR MODEL IS JESUS CHRIST .......THE ONE ASCENDED TO THE RIGHT HAND OF THE FATHER......THE ONE WHOSE KINGDOM WE SEEK. ONCE AGAIN THIS PRAYER ILLUSTRATES A PRACTICAL WAY TO PRAY FOR HEAVEN'S REALITY TO BRING AN EFFECT ON PLANET EARTH.

Matthew 6:13 - And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
THERE IS NO TEMPTATION OR SIN IN HEAVEN. THIS PRAYER DOES NOT IMPLY THAT GOD WANTS TO TEMPT US. WE KNOW FROM JAMES 1:13 THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO ENTICE US TO SIN. THIS KIND OF PRAYING IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT REQUIRES US TO FACE OUR NEED FOR GRACE. IT HELPS US TO ALIGN OUR HEART WITH HEAVEN - ONE OF ABSOLUTE DEPENDENCEY ON GOD. THE PHRASE "DELIVER US FROM EVIL", AS IT IS TRADITIONALLY RENDERED, ACTUALLY MEANS, "DELIVER US FROM THE EVIL ONE." A HEART MODELED AFTER HEAVEN HAS GREAT SUCCESS IN SPIRITUAL WARFARE. JESUS WAS ABLE TO SAY, "SATAN HAS NOTHING IN ME." THE BELIEVER IS TO BE COMPLETELY FREE FROM ALL SATANIC INFLUENCE AND ATTACHMENTS. THAT IS THE CRY VOICED IN THIS PRAYER.
James 4:7 - So be subject to God. Resist the devil (stand firm against him), and he will flee from you.

Matthew 6:13 - For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS HIS POSSESSION, WHICH IS WHY HE ALONE CAN GIVE IT TO US. WHEN WE DECLARE THAT REALITY WE MOVE INTO DECLARATIONS OF PRAISE! THE LORD'S PRAYER HAS TWO MAIN OBJECTIVES: (1) MINISTER TO GOD OUT OF AN INTIMATE PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP; AND (2) BRING THE REALITY OF HIS RULERSHIP (THE KINGDOM) TO EARTH.
