I'm at a low point in my life right now. This came across my Facebook page, and of course I'm grateful for that. I do believe God will take care of me.

But as lovely as this sentiment is, can anyone corroborate it with Scripture?

I believe that whatever your plight, God will use it to benefit His Bride and His will for you is mixed up in it.

That sounds along the same lines as when one door closes another will open but not sure if there’s scripture for that. Jesus does have the better way tho so if what your doing is leaving behind something that’s holding you back then I would assume something better will replace it.

Husband pointed to Job 42:10-12.

I looked up Joel 2:25.

The thing is, we have to consider context. Jeremiah says God wants good things for us. (Define "good," as Hammster points out.) Job *did* have everything he lost restored, twice over, but is that a promise that God will do the same for every believer, every time? And who was He talking to in Joel?

Although, I agree about it seeming like a feel-good message and having undertones of the prosperity gospel. The apostle Paul learned how to be content both in want and in abundance. God is always in control, and both the valleys and the mountain-top experiences have their purpose. God will certainly meet all our needs in Christ Jesus, and promises to bring restoration. But, God Himself desires to be the treasure of our heart. Whether we are suffering or living in abundance, He desires for us to seek Him and, and to keep our eyes on Him.

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

No, I think the story of Job was to illustrate holding on to the faith. We are not all guaranteed replacements of things lost in this world, though. Some of the most faithful has some of the most difficult lives, which is one reason I draft away from anything even similar to the prosperity gospel. Most of the inspirational messages I see around - which are still uplifting, don't get me wrong! - were written to Israel as a nation or Christians as a group. Taken as one verse alone, it may sound like it means for each individual directly. If that were the case, all the saved would be living glorious lives filled with riches and health.

Edited to add: God is always with us and our side, however! He is stronger than any storm and wants to be our focus. He truly is our salvation and everything, despite whatever life throws our way.

I agree, it has a Robert Schuller/TBN ring to it..."replace everything you lost" Everything? As in? Then we look at the graphic of a hand...which could be taken in so many ways, except the textual context seems to suggest what we've all heard before. Then there's "something down", what is meant by that or what is it assuming, is that something common or uncommon? And then "He wants", suggests some kind of knowledge (apart from Scripture) about what God wants. Well, I've often found what God wants and what I want do not agree, and my will and what I thought His will to be often serve to demonstrate my ignorance and dependence on Him for everything. For example, I never could have dreamed I would be in my thirties before getting married, I wanted and thought it would happen much sooner than it did and quite honestly I had lost all patience burning up with desire given up all hope on the idea shortly before the providence of God intervened, but even then it was not exactly as one might expect, and at the same time, I could see His hand working in my hopeless situation. It restored a smile on my face, and peace, and hope for a future.

In Jeremiah, the promise was to the elders. And they were never asked to lay anything down.

In Job, God restored to him what was lost and then some. But never was Job asked to lay anything down.

God can replace what was lost. But there’s no promise that He will.

Could be many reasont for that, one being a made up "feel good" something someone made up because of something that may have happened in that life and that's how they interpreted it, so they decided to make it a fact for everyone because it sounds cool....something they had no business doing.

Your better question may have been, what is biblical that covers my situation, as there are plenty of truths in the bible to help get us through.

Sorry things aren't good right now, and hope things work out for you whatever the problem.

The overall context of scripture doesn't seem to agree - in terms of the material context.

The Lord does not promise material blessings - 1 John 2:15-17 ......Shocker, right??

And if you happen to have many resources, you should share a considerable portion to helping our brothers and sisters in great need.

So basically, material assistance must come from our better off brothers and sisters.... But since only few Christians acknowledge such teaching (even though it's clearly written in the Bible) only few Christians in great need ever gets help.

But during the valley itself, we have the most wonderful refuge to flee to (as did Job himself in a way right in the middle of the book!) --

It could always be the right time to begin reading through the Gospel of Matthew again, or of John, and to just listen.
