AIs can do impressively well at munging together a coherent 'average' of what people have said in the training database, but they have no understanding of the concepts involved.

lol, I was in Junior High when "pocket calculators" became inexpensive and everybody started having them. There was a minor controversy about whether we should be allowed to bring them into math classes. "The students should do their own work like Pythagoras and Newton did" some adults said. I can't remember if we were allowed or not, but it didn't matter 'cause mine never lasted. I couldn't resist trying to divide by zero, and since they were cheaply made that would cause them to catch fire like a Tesla.

I'm still not sure whether the OP is asking if it's possible, or if it's moral, or if it's efficacious. It's not moral or efficacious. If I had a perfect memory, hypothetically, I could listen to a lecture from a nuclear physicist and repeat it word-for-word. But there would be no indication that I understood any of the lecture, unless I can put it in my own words.

Comparatively speaking ChatGPT looks more impressive than the garbage served up by the ChatBot responding to my posts in the Records Vs Layers thread.
Assuming the Chatbot and ChatGPT were not one in the same thing, I wonder how ChatGPT would have responded to my posts.

My son told me that everyone had smartphones and he was the only one that did not. They actually wanted them to take their phone to school. I remember when they were on lockdown due to a bomb threat it was nice to be able to text him and make sure everything was alright.

They are having to build a new school now because the old school can not handle all the new technology. Our taxes will most likely go up 5 or 600 a year now.

An old building can't handle new technology? Sounds a bit sketchy. Technology isn't pumped through the brick and mortar, lol.

Chatbot is a tool to help us do research. But it can write for us. I can tell it to write a Celine song and it will.

I have to carry my tools in my toolbox. So I just try to have the tools I need to get the job done. I do not want to have to carry around tools that I am not using.

I use to sell knives for maybe 20 years. A knife in the hands of a carpenter can build a house. A butcher can prepare food for dinner. A doctor can use a knife to bring about healing. But there are people who will use a knife as a weapon to harm people. I would try to sell them pepper spray if they needed to defend themselves. It is our choice if we want to do good or evil. This does answer your question. AI is NEUTRAL. It is the user who can use it for good or evil.

You do not understand how we need tools to do a job in the real world? As human species evolved and developed larger brains and more sophisticated technology, they began to create more complex tools, such as hand axes and spears, which allowed them to expand their geographical range and to adapt to new environments. The use of tools and technology was a key factor in the success and evolution of early human species, and it has continued to play a critical role in human development and progress throughout history.

From this perspective, AI is a key factor in the evolution of the human species.

It's only going to be as good as the quality & quantity of information it has on the topic and the particular questions it is asked. Knowledge without understanding...

Somehow I got them to buy a 3d printer. My son was in the first class and they had to figure out how to set it up and get it working. I use to buy the old projectors for $50 and my son turned them into gaming systems.

I've been playing around with ChatGPT to have it write marketing scripts.

I get very interesting results when I give it a sales proposition and tell it to provide a 1-minute script in the style of Barak Obama, then the same thing in the style of Ronald Reagan.

I chose those two men because there's more than enough of their speeches and writings "out in the cloud" for the application to draw from, and I'm familiar enough with their speeches to identify their tone.

Very interestingly, the results were spot on for each man. ChatGPT not only correctly mimicked their phrasing, but also even selected different talking points as each man would have chosen to speak about.

Of course, marketspeak is easy to replicate...it's mostly horse manure anyway. But it was very sophisticated in distinguishing how the the two men would have developed and delivered different marketing speeches for the same concept.

Even an AI can come to think or believe it is truly conscious when it may not truly be, and it may even be able to also fool very many humans into believing this, etc, in which case if it ever turns on us or whatever, etc, then the fault would be with the one, or ones, who initially made it, or created it, or gave it this thought or ability, or whom initially programmed it, etc...

I don't think it would have to be truly conscious in order to be given the ability to "do" on it's own, etc...

I am of the belief that only God the Father fully and truly knew everything at or from the very beginning fully, etc, and that any other beings still might be limited or restricted in that regard even now still, etc...

Jesus, for all his knowledge while he was with us here, still did not know all fully while he was with us here, etc...

Most are restricted due to their own created identity, the ego, which is fear-based, fear of its own truth as being invalid. Those that censored by their ego are in bondage to self, and are restricted to their own conditionality of what is true, love and faith. "They do not know what they are doing".
