Can a rape victim determine the value of their unborn child?

If we are being honest, there are plenty of people who would still deem them worthless to this day based solely on what they look like; certainly those same people (and more) wouldn't care about their alleged unborn rape babies. So worth is a subjective thing in the first place.

Worth shouldn't be why one does, or does not abort the further growth of the living entity inside of one's womb.

You know what pro lifers...lets ban abortion because of rape. Now are you going to provide therapy for the victim...and provide care for that child. We have 10s of thousands of poor and abused children already that we do not take care of them the social services and foster parent system are joke. Some people have abortions because they can not afford a child. So they have the child and give it to the state which you are allowed to do. How many of you Christians are going to open your homes to those kids. So we ban abortion what are going to about those kids. We have already seen how social services and the foster care system takes care of the youngest of our poor and needy and most people do not give them a second thought. You want to force rape victims to give birth to there rapist kids...then you need to be willing to care of the victim and the child...if not...Shut up!

I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to stay far away from the abortion discussion from now on because I cannot commit to any side of it when it comes to aspects such as rape. I would prefer abortion be minimized as much as humanely possible.

I think that, from a biblical perspective, all people's inherent worth is from their being made in the image of God. This is a type of worth that surpasses everything; a type of worth that all people have, be they born or unborn. I don't think it is a worth that can be taken from them, either. So, my argument, I guess, would be this: People don't determine whether someone is made in the image of God or not. All of us are. People don't determine the worth of other people in that way, because they can't. It isn't our place. I understand that rape is a very painful subject. I can't place myself in the position of someone who's been through something like that and I won't pretend to. But my opinion on this matter, just from a blunt perspective, is that nobody but God has the right to determine the worth of an unborn child, regardless of how they were conceived. So, the question should not be "what are our rights" so much as "what is the right thing to do", I feel. But that's all I want to say. I hope I conveyed my belief sensitively.

While I think it’s wrong and I would carry my baby to term, I don’t think it’s right to judge and force women who are not Christians to do the same thing. The only thing in my mind that would be right is to provide more options for mothers who are considering abortion with loving kindness.

Kids do not deserve to live in foster homes; they need permanent homes while they are still babies.

Sorry, but this is a disgusting comment. I've known for much of my life a local Pastor and his wife who have fostered probably 30 + kids of all ages over the years, and they have kids themselves too. The foster kids that have grown up with the family have (pretty much in the majority) had their lives turned around, felt love and acceptance like never before, and have gone on to have great careers and beautiful families of their own.
I don't know where people get the audacity to believe that they can dictate what the acceptable parameters are for life. Some people even take it as far as claiming abortion is acceptable to save kids from growing up in a poor environment ! Absolutely mental.

If nobody is able and willing to commit to caring for the baby through childhood and beyond, the child will literally feel unwanted and unloved.

Such dangerous thinking. My mother felt utterly unwanted and unloved growing up, thanks to two terrible parents who left and deserted her. Should she have been put in the ground ? That would have been sad, as later in life she learned love in it's fullness from her family and her faith in God.
You're trying to control the outcome of peoples lives before they've even begun.

Most children are not born into foster care. The majority of foster care children are there because they were taken away from abusive or neglectful parents, and the primary goal is to put the children back with their parents. As such, most of them are not available for adoption. Additionally, most age out of the system because they were removed from their household in their teens, and most foster children are in the system for 1-3 years.

When people have dehumanized and devalued other people, the very worst atrocities of human history have occurred. Chief among these atrocities is the horrendous number of unborn children who have been murdered by abortion. It's so much easier to destroy a human life when it is just "tissue," and when it has been labeled a foetus rather than a child or baby, and when it is cast as an interloper, a parasitic thing, that threatens the well-being of a woman. The Nazis did this sort of thing. They dehumanized all sorts of people, stripping them of their intrinsic value as creations of God, labeling them as lesser creatures and corrupting influences, and then murdering them by the millions. Stalin did the same. When a pregnant mother, then, begins to devalue her unborn child, stripping her baby of its intrinsic value as a creation of God, thinking of it as a tumor or parasite, she becomes a kind of Nazi in her thinking, Stalin-esque in her dehumanizing of her baby, and will shortly blossom into a fully-fledged child-killer.

Oh, but the unwanted baby not torn to bits in an abortionist's clinic will be born into misery, rejected and alone, left to the cruel care of the government and foster homes. Surely, if this is their future prospect, being cut to pieces with a pair of scissors and sucked through a hose and deposited in a sink to be sold like a pork chop in a butcher's shop to some lab somewhere is an obvious kindness. But wait. What about all the homeless out there? They are living lives of misery, too! They are often alone, and addicted, and despairing. Society has rejected them. They live parasitically upon a culture, contributing nothing of value. Shouldn't they be killed, too, then? Wouldn't we be doing the homeless person a kindness by killing him, just as is done to the unwanted unborn baby when it is ripped to bits?

1) Source?
2) What is the relevance?

Our DNA.

We didn't, on average, become 20% European by accident, and interracial marriages -- which were never numerous--were reduced to near zero during the first three generations of the 20th century.

Can you cite any credible reference that shows how most African Americans are descendants of rape victims?

Most African-Americans are descendants of rape victims.
And this is important why....you do realize you go back a few hundred years and every race, country and people had rape in them. Kings and Nobles regularly took woman for sex, soldier regularly raped women, but that aside there is proof to your statement. So other than sounding a bit racist why are you getting off topic.

If I need one of your kidneys to survive, should you be forced by law to give it to me? and punished for my death if you don't?

Or is my life worth less than your personal desire not to be saddled with the inconvenience of giving me your kidney?

For those who argue that are us pro-lifers providing support for the babies born (that were chosen not to be aborted).... do you provide support? Do you house the mother and child? Its easy to ask that of us but unless you are doing the same then you can't use that question against us. Its called "Pot meet kettle".

That said we donate things to all sorts of people. Including mothers.

Not comparable. You can allow someone to die by not giving them your kidney. You can't purposefully stab them with a knife. The difference is allowing someone to die as a natural course of their illness without giving your kidney to them, while abortion is purposefully taking the life of a human being.

It is God's design that humankind gives live birth, so yes the child has a right, God has given it that right.
