Here is an interesting question that brings some animosity between my wife and I when studying.

Can a Christian who has accepted Jesus, been baptised and has walked the life for years then turns away from God and Jesus still be saved if they do not come back?

Some people seem to believe that once your saved your saved for good no matter what you do. That is not my opinion however.

So what is your opinion on the matter? If someone who has accepted Jesus previously and turns from Him and dies, does that person still get entrance to Heaven? Please explain reasoning with scripture to back up please :D
The way I sometimes respond to this question is to point out that it doesn't matter to someone who is following Jesus. For the person that wants to understand the minimum that can be done and still be saved, they have bigger problems than knowing what the answer to the question is. They're probably dismissing the seriousness of having what they want in their hearts instead of what Jesus wants.

However, I am confident God is not going to force anyone into heaven if they don't want want to have anything to do with him, or have a heart for doing what they want instead of what God wants.

So many views on this, not sure if someone may post the same as me but I use to have trouble with this until I read;
1 John 2:19 - They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.

If a person is truly saved they could never walk away or lose their salvation. Could you imagine if someone walking with God for 10 years, walked away and lived the last 60 years in complete apostasy would still be worthy to be called a child of God? If a person is saved the gift is from God and nothing anyone does can earn that yet the salvation will be evident in the life of the believer.

Adam and Havah (Eve) walked with YHWH personally talking with HIM
with NOTHING lacking in all they had or needed - everything was PERFECTLY PROVIDED THEM,
including the totally beyond anyone's wildest imaginations and dreams
walking WITH THE CREATOR HIMSELF DAILY and having an intimate personal conversation with HIM with no such thing as slang, idle chatter, gossip, bad words, bad thoughts, or pain !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah I think so, how could someone profess disbelief in Yahweh, live a wicked life and not thank and praise his creator, then expect that very God to let you come into his presence? It just sounds illogical to me

Why would someone who has received the new nature imparted upon regeneration and has the indwelling of the Holy Spirit not believe in God. More to the point, how can they not believe in God when, if they are saved in the first place, they have communion with God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit?

It's really disheartening to see how many people here don't even understand the most elementary of Christian doctrines.

Adam and Even weren't saved or indwelt by the Holy Spirit. Their relationship with God was external and conditional. Ours is internal and transformational.
