The old nature was at war with but could not defeat God.The new nature is at war with but cannot defeat sin. The nature may have changed but the flesh is still weak. Being saved means that Christ has defeated sin and through Him we share in that victory. It does not mean that we now are empowered to defeat sin ourselves ,Matt 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
It is always Christ and never us. No matter what our nature now desires , the more we attempt to pretend we can be sinless, the less sinless we will be . The sin of pride stands in the way of total submission to the power of the Holy Spirit and condemns us to failure. Romans 7:15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

But the fact remains that the fact he admits he has not received the new nature is very troubling.

The bible is filled with scripture pertaining to the sexually immoral.

1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

When I read Hebrews, I see warnings for people in their Christian walk who begin to take the word lightly.

At the same time I think it depends on the situation. Telling a habitual sexually immoral person that they are saved without context can be very damaging.

We all fall into sin, sometimes we fall back into sins we think no longer have any hold of us. If we believe that Christ died for our sins, (past present, future) we should live in light of His grace.

If there is no repentance, there's a big problem and the word 'practice'... 1 John 3 makes mention of people who willfully practice sin.

EDIT:
Can a saved Christian who practices theft go to Heaven?
Can a saved Christian who practices adultery go to Heaven?

Would your answer be the same if the sin were any different?

I can't believe that 50% of the pollsters said that a Christian who practices Sexual Immorality will go to heaven!

Perhaps they didn't read Paul in Gal 5:16-19

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness....I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God

Really? There are many Christians, especially new converts (but old also), who have branched off into legalism. Paul spends a lot of ink in warning the Galatian church of this very problem.

Also, in the books of Acts, this gets brought out:
Acts 15:5 But some of the sect of the Pharisees who had believed stood up, saying, "It is necessary to circumcise them and to direct them to observe the Law of Moses"
Are you siding with the Pharisees? The Apostles told them no.

Can a saved Christian who looks at a woman lustfully go to Heaven?

Can a saved Christian who is prideful go to Heaven?

Can a Christian who condemns other Christians go to Heaven?

You think focusing on the dirty ten and the nasty nine makes other sins any less significant? The list is endless. If being sinless in yourself is the determining factor, then no one goes to Heaven. Looking at another's sin as greater than your own is nothing more than prideful self justifying of your own sins. There but by the grace of God.......

And none of these sins ya'll want to focus on are the unforgivable sin, not even close.

No to legalism doesn't mean they weren't legalists. At the same time, living for the flesh as a lifestyle doesn't come from God's Spirit either....

You need to learn the difference between sin (transgression) and practicing sin as a lifestyle.

Which "sin as a lifestyle" is the unforgivable sin?

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the only one unforgivable sin, but the same could be said for someone who decided to become a rapist, murder, to adulterer for the rest of their life and die in their sins without repenting.

That would be considered a lifestyle as a rapist, killer, and cheater.

How about a 'lifestyle' of a persistent prideful attitude?

Is there any specific command about pride being a sin.

Would having too much pride be considered not loving God or Loving your neighbor?

Not saying having too much pride is right, but where does the bible say, THE PRIDEFUL will not inherit the kingdom?
