Can a Christian actor do a NUMBER of Gay roles?

I have a question, what if an actor who is catholic do many gay progects and supports gays, can they still be a TRUE Christian?

That would depend on if you believe homosexuality is a sin. Catholics do. So I would suppose that any effort to support a sinful lifestyle would in fact be a sin itself.

I find it very disturbing . I don't understand why an actor would want to show that lifestyle if the actor is Catholic.

What would you think of a actor, who happens to be a Christian, who portrays a murderer in a movie? Or who has made a career of portraying "bad guys"? Why would that be any better or worse than portraying a gay character? Does it matter at all, because it is simply acting, fiction, the telling of a story?

Actors are paid to act, it's what they do for a living. I don't know why portraying a murderer in a movie would somehow mean that they support murderers, that they think murder is ok. Same thing with portraying a homosexual in a movie. It's acting, just their job.

By Catholic rule, yes, it would be a sin to support any sinful activity or lifestyle.

Now, opening it up to all Christians is a bit different, because then it opens up into the homosexual debate, in which Christians are somewhat divided and the answer if really determined by personal belief.

MoodyBlue pretty much got it.

Just because you portray one in a movie/play/etc. does not mean you support that lifestyle. It's entertainment and should not be taken as any more.

Now there are varying degrees of this portrayal idea as it relates to entertainment. A stripper might say they are merely playing a part and entertaining, they do not condone what acts an onlooker may commit. But yet it is so directly tied to a genuinly sinful act that I would have a hard time saying it is not encouraging sin.

That would really depend on what was meant by 'supporting gays', wouldn't it.

The last time I looked the RCC believed in helping all people, including sinners (quite rightly).

"Mercy triumphs over justice" let alone 'logic'. RCC at its best is very good at mercy.

OH i totally see what you are saying.... I think that you are right...a bit off topic, I can NOT STAND when people support things that they think other CHRISTIANS may think it is wrong JUST because they want to do EVERYTHING against the Bible. That is soooooo sad and heartbreaking to hear folks do that JUST for that cause. I BELEIVE that YOu are right GAYS are people too!!!
