Can’t we all just get along

How hateful this site can be I felt so upset the other day when on this site like I was being attacked, this site is great and I love the idea of it, somewhere to post your views, speak to Supporting people about things
Have discussions about God and wrestle with the word together as a Christian family.
But maybe this is not what this site is not about if the sole purpose of this site was made up so people can full on attack each other, back bite at every thing that people say, nit pick through every single sentence that someone puts on, then were in the right forum but I don’t believe that’s what this is here for and before I get full on attacked I would like to point out five things.
1. This is only aimed at Christians as I am one and I by no means want to speak this way about non Christians they don’t have the Holy Spirit guiding them.
2. I am guilty of all I said and I have to grow up and be better on this site, so I welcome friendship and accountability
3. I don’t believe everyone on this site is like this, it is only what I see
4. If I get told if you don’t like the site what are you doing on this site just go, it’s because I believe in this site and I don’t want or need to go, I’m just like everyone else expressing an opinion, but a full on attack won’t help anyone, some people are more sensitive than others.
I can talk a good game but my heart is very sensitive and the bottom line is I don’t want to argue with people only discuss things as a Christian in a loving way.
5. As I think this site is and can be wonderful, the main problem is we type to each other, there’s no way round this, I’m just saying it has a part to play.
Let me put it like this, say I’m discussing something with someone on this site, I say something and I get a negative reply back I don’t understand as I didn’t put on anything bad or mean anything wrong but it must have been taken in the wrong way, this is so easy to do.
We’re i face to face with you, I can see your facial expressions your body language, you maybe talking about something very serious but have the biggest smile on your face, you could be talking about something that makes you very angry but have such love and friendliness towards me. When a thread is sent out and a reply is sent back I have no idea how you are feeling at the time you may have sent the reply back in anger or love.
Again this is just an observation
I just pray we all recognize this so we can stop tearing everybody’s threads to pieces
Whatever is put on here is someone’s opinion or they’re looking for help getting an answer and reaching out to someone for help.

The reason why we can't, (at least in the specific forums that are "debate" forums), is because, this a "battlefield" or battleground, where the children of God, and the children of the Devil, are in, and "exist together" (in), and are "gathered together in the same place"...

And that's the main reason "why"...

I wish it wasn't that way, or that it wasn't this way, or the way it is, but, "it is what it is"...

How nice it would be that if every person who got a friendly was added up at the end of a year and if you got loads, there could be a forum run by friendlies that you could go to and just have a nice conversation because debating is good but sometimes you just want to be quiet and be still.
Jesus first and be still with him but on this site just nice uplifting conversations not feeling like you’ve just done ten rounds with Mike Tyson feeling worse than when you came on.

Been there, done that. I think that it is unrealistic to expect everyone on CF to fully comply with the principles of 1 Corinthians 13. But if you are attacked on the personal level, you have the right to report their attacking post, because it is a violation of the general forum rules to kick the player instead of the ball.

Also, we find out what is inside some people who might appear very religious on the outside. It's like kicking a barrel. If the barrel is full of honey you get covered in honey. If the barrel is full of acid you get splashed with acid. This shows that there are religious people who are full of honey, and others who are full of acid on the inside.

When I encounter someone filled with acid, I use the sword of the Spirit to counter their comments. I try not to fight fire with fire. It is no good kicking the other player back if he or she kicks you. It is better to use the Scripture to continue dealing with the issue. If the other person keeps attacking you, then you can nuke them by reporting their post and asking the moderators to bump their post off the forum.

People have been banned from CF for continually trolling and attacking others. The moderators are very aware of who those people are. They encourage folk not to try to fight the attackers but to report the posts and let the moderators handle them. That's what we have moderators for on CF.

When I am on the Spirit-filled forum, which is a safe one for Charismatics, if a non-Charismatic comes trolling on the forum ridiculing Charismatic doctrine and gifts, I report them without mercy, and I let the moderators know in plain terms that what these trolls are doing is violating the forum rules.

I have been reported and warned sometimes when I have broken the rules, either by debating on other forums, and once for mistakenly giving spiritual warfare advice, which is also against the general rules of CF.

In general, you don't have to put up with personal attacks on CF. Enlist the help of the moderators if the attacks start distressing you. Otherwise use the Sword of the Spirit to undermine their attacks and get them back on discussing the issues at hand.

It's easy to get irate when posting. Not sure exactly why, I'm sure there are studies into it that might shed some light, but something about interacting with words on the screen rather than face to face can strip out some layers of inhibition when it comes to expressing an opinion. I'm learning as I go to check my language and my emotional responses.

I have sometimes made the mistake of also not checking what forum I am in, like when checking new threads before posting, ect...

And something I try to keep in mind now though, and in general, is that, you usually cannot truly win any of these battles, or wars, or fights, or truly come out on top, especially in the end, by "acting like a Devil" basically...

Something I am constantly having to remind myself of, and keep myself "in-check" about constantly, before posting or replying and/or responding...

I'm not always successful, but it's a very good reminder...

You do have to kind of develop a "thick skin" on here much of the time, and it also helps for you to have the ability to let a lot of things "slide" or "roll" (off your back, or over your shoulder so to speak), and re-focus or re-center yourself before replying and/or responding...

Stick to the thing being discussed and not the person personally, ect... And not take things that come at, or are directed at you, "personal" or personally, ect...

Not easy all the time as none of us is perfect, but it's some good reminders and good advice...

If a person presents their point well, then I have no reason to rebuke what they say and I let their words post for others to read and perhaps "Like" them as a response. But if I reply, them my post jumps to the top and I'd rather not interfere.

Multiply this times 100 and only the detractors will post if they object strong enough. This is WHY you see mostly conflict.
Becasue non-conflict is less obvious.

So you just need to consider what detractors say, and if they have a point, absorb it.
If not, then ignore them.

That's a very important tip. I am banned often for not reading the
forum rules. My comments on prayer are not welcome in forums where
people are praying to have their legs unbroken or their dogs healed.
