Me too. It took me a little time staring at it to realise it was RC Sproul.

What's with the old one. I always thought it looked like a crimson Klansman. It kinda gave me a creepy feeling.

It's the Imperial Guard from Return of the Jedi. I replaced his force pike with a cross. It was intended to be a play on the whole "Soldier of the Cross/Defender of the Faith" theme, but I tended to get a lot of misunderstanding like yours so I finally got around to changing it.

I have avatars turned off to make pages load faster, so I forget about my avatar half the time.

If I had watched the second set of Star Wars movies I would have known that. I did see the first three (when I was young) and so I knew Yoda. I kept saying to myself "I know that face." And when I got it it was very funny.
