Calling yourself a Prophet?

I fear that we are using the term "prophet" in different ways. In the sense that was used in the OT, John the baptist was the LAST prophet. IMHO, scripture is clear.

I don't think of the various charismatic gifts that the Spirit "gives" us as ones where one would recognize the person, or put hs or name in the paper or on a website. Charismatic gifts simply are not to be recognized. Some have the gift of healing, some of teaching, some of prophesy. Some have other extraordinary gifts. I note that all of us have spiritual gifts. Some have on of the gifts in an extraordinary form.

Then you are talking a bout a preacher, not a prophet as in someone who foretells? But then again, I look as you say some have the gift of teaching and some of prophecy so the teacher would be the preacher hence the prophet it seems would have to be someone who foretells, meaning I'm wrong in my assumption?


Or in short what do you mean by prophet?

Also, on JTB being the last prophet, it has been brought up before there are no prophets (foretellers) in this day but scripture was never given to back that, can you show us why the scripture is clear to you/what scripture. I honestly don't now either way is why I ask.

I think that the prophecies of the bible are public revelation and necessary to accept for salvation. after pentecost, the spirit gives private revelations/testimony of our walk with The Lord.

the spirit is perfect order and truth. but, what we need for salvation in in the bible, not private revelations. and i do believe there are prophets and apostles today. strictly speaking, most so-called one's are false - very few are real.

You stated that belief in all the prophecies of thee bible is a requirement for salvation. We have had literally hundreds of discussions here on regarding what is required for salvation. Many have different views. Many have different traditional views. As many have said over the ages, the requirements for salvation do not involve a catechism test, a check of right beliefs.

So, it is not a matter of correction. I simply do not believe that salvation requires assenting to list of prophecies, and specific interpretations of those prophesies. To be more clear, I don't think that our relationship with Jesus necessarily rests on our individual interpretation or acceptance of other interpretations of all the prophesies of Scripture.

Note that I am not discussing the Truth of the prophecies of Scripture. Rather, I am commenting on what is required for our justification (salvation).
