What?? No talk pf last night's World War Three episode?

I didn't think it was all that great, although it was nice to see the Doctor acknowledge the role Mickey played in sving the earth.

One of the things I like about the new series is how they deal with the family that's left behind when a new companion goes wandering off with the Doctor. I really enjoyed the part that had Rose's mum begging her not to go off with the Doctor at the end of the episode.

Looking forward to the Dalek episode next week.

EXTERMINATE!! EXTERMINATE!! Oh how I've missed that :)

New to this forum but NOT new to the Doctor! You can tell by my age, I'm one of the original hiding-behind-the-sofa generation! And now my 11 year old son is totally obsessed and can't believe I remember it from way back when! Anyway, I really enjoyed Christopher Eccleston and it looks as if I'll be just as happy with David Tennant (actually more, he's yummy!!). Billie Piper has been a revelation for me; last I recall, pre-Dr Who, she was some limited talent pop star! Glad she's doing something a little more worthwhile.

It looks as if this new series will be as much a Saturday night ritual as it was for me as a child with my parents. Now that's bridging the generation gap! My hubby, who works in H&S, reckons he'll use the disinfectant idea in his infection control courses! All told, great start to the new series! Oh, and I don't hide behind the sofa any more!

Welcome to the forum Captivated, Lastie, glad to have you along.

I like the fact that in the last season you got to see the problems the Doctor caused to those Rose left behind. They didnt seem to do that before. The companion got whisked away in the TARDIS and you never knew what happened to those they left behind.

I remember at least one case in the past - Victoria - where the Doctor agreed to take her along because she didn't have anyone left, they'd all been killed by Daleks. Then there was Nyssa, whose planet was destroyed; Tegan, whose only mentioned family - her aunt - was killed by the Master and Adric who was probably an orphan and from a different universe entirely. Those of the only ones - except for Susan, who doesn't count, obviously - I can remember that have families mentioned. The older ones can presumably disappear for a while without anyone noticing, but in the case of the younger companions, their families don't seem to come up.

Is it "The War Machines" or "The Chase" were the two teachers are returned to Earth two years after the fact? They have a scene on a bus where they ask what story thery are going to use to explain their whereabouts, and they wonder whether or not they still have their jobs.

The-Doctor commented on April 15:

"I have just watched the first episode of series 2 it was fantastic....."

Doctor, you mean second season, dont you? haha
I know you all refer to each season as a series, but here in
America, we call last year's shows and this year's part of the same series, just different seasons. Though in years past, all the episodes starring a particular Doctor were treated as a separate series from the rest.

A shame Christopher Eccleston wasn't kept on. I like the man immensely, even tho it took time to get used to his accent. He and Billie had great chemistry together for sure. I also like Eccleston's fashion sense and overall look, radical for a Doctor :)

Well, maybe CE will cross the pond and become a lead bad guy or close to it on a future season of 24? :D

Hearing the Daleks scream out "EXTERMINATE!? EXTERMINAAAATE?!!!" or anything else, they always sounded high strung and really needed to lay off the caffeine LOL ... Now we all know how stairs were not a problem to them... yet why they didn't develop humanoid robotic forms like the Movellans is beyond me.
