Hey, shouldn't his name be Dr. Whom?

The Doctor is referred to as The Doctor, or more simply, Doctor. His name, in whatever generation, has never been Dr. Who (with the caveat of the two non-canonical American movies). He does have a Gallifreyan name, but I can't recall what it is at this moment. He has referred to himself with at least one pseudonym, John Smith, of which I am aware.

Oh, and I'm a total geek for writing this post.;)

The Doctor was known to have another name as well in his eighth persona:-

Doctor Bowman, if I'm not mistaken.

Is that from the movie or from the books? I've not

read a single book - except the 1963 Annual.

It was in the movie version. He used it briefly as an alias when hunting down The Master with Dr Grace Holloway.

I've no idea on that, I'm afraid. :)

Aha, found it.

It is from the Armagedon Factor. The Doctor discovers Drax, an old school mate, who is working as a maintanence technician.

Drax refers to The Doctor's school nickname as Theta Sigma or Thete.

This is what I was thinking of earlier when I said I thought he has a known Gallifreyan name as established on the tv series.

His alias in the 8 th doctor movie was John Smith only because that is what Chang put on his patient details! He has used that one before previously. The Thete nickname is mentioned in Episode 6 of the Key to time season The Armageddon Factor by Drax The Doctor does ask him not to use it later in the episode though.

Anyway More news on Series 2 (season 30)

You guys I am so jealous! I wanna watch these so bad, but they don't show them in the states. I love Stephen Fry! Would love to see him in Dr. Who. Are they showing the Tennant epidodes yet? I didn't know who David Tennant was until I saw Viva Blackpool. He's a cutie but a scottish Dr? Usually he's English, isn't that right?

David Tennant uses an english/London accent as the new Doctor, and has played lots of English speaking characters ,especially as Barty Crouch jnr in Harry Potter.
Yup and he is a cutie pie.
But then again I had a crush on Peter Davidson (5th Doctor) many years ago as a kid. :)

Thanks for the updates , The Doctor.:)
I can't wait for school reunion, as Sarah Jane was one of my favourite companions along with K-9.

The next series is still in production from what I have read but will probably be shown in the spring in the UK. As I understand it Stephen Fry is only writing an episode for the series but will not be appearing in it. If I hear different I'll let you know. So far there has only been one episode with the 10th Doctor in it which was the Christmas invasion shown on Christmas day in the Uk.

I used to have a thing for Nyssa (I was about 13 at the time though!)

Lubianca ,you can buy the last series on DVD online from amazon (worth every penny trust me!) You might want to see if there is a local DW group in your area who might be able to access the recent episodes. There are groups in New York and Philadephia who do regularly meet up and watch recent episodes that I know of but there may be other groups in the states.

I thought I would Post my 1500th post on this forum....by asking who you think would make a good 11th Doctor (not that I want David Tennant to leave or anything just curious!)

My choice at present seems to drift between James Mcavoy (played Mr Tumnus in the Lion the witch and the wardrobe) Gary Oldman or Christian Bale (handy as he is welsh if they continue to film in Wales!)

What do you think?

I have a fanfic scripted out with Patrick Stewart as the 11th Doctor.

Jeremy Brett would have made a great Doctor, but he's dead.

The kid who plays Harry Potter could grow up to be a fine Doctor was well.

Here's a question in return: Now that we are up to re-generation #10, if the series proves to be as succesful as the first and the average tenure for playing The Doctor stays at about 3 years, what do you think will happen when the writers burn through regeneration #12? Keep to canon and let The Doctor die? Deus Ex Machina? Valeyard (shudder)?

Oh, and gratulations on post #1500. Thank you for spending it with us Whovians.

I met Michael Jayston (Valeyard) at a convention once...got his autograph. I dont think he is interested in the job. You never know DT might go on for a while.

If they do run out I guess the series should end but they may find a way round that...look at the Master he found a way to extend his life beyond his 13 lives.

I would love to see the Master again, as he one of my favourite villians in the series.
As to who would play a future Doctor I'd like to see Ralph Fiennes . But I think he would be a dark Doctor.
Maybe Eddie Izzard , he would bring a new look. ;)
But what do I know? :)
