sorry... DALEK you sound like a fan! I also like th one called "War Games" where they go to different eras and fight and all that!

Sorry, that came off snotty.

I meant to type [mccoy]Daleks[/mccoy] as an allusion to when the 7th Doctor had to keep correcting Ace's mispronunciation of Dalek.

War Games ia a super great story and one of my favorite to watch (and thankfully of all the Troughton episodes short-sightedly obliterated by the Beeb this one survives in its entirety) Troughton is great and we get introduced to the awesome powers of the Time Lords for the first time.

I think I have only seen a couple of Patrick Troughton's stories, most of them had Jamie in them. I wish I could see more of them. I wish I could see any of the original ones (besides the ones I have bought and watched hundreds of times. :p )

I bought The Dalek Invasion of the Earth recently...found it in a junk shop. I also found Terror of the Zygons there too. I'm sooo glad they are releasing Hand of Fear on DVD...being a Tom Baker fan.

By the way congratulations everyone we have passed 500 posts in this forum...thanks to everyone who has contributed....and continue to contribute. Here's to getting to 1000!

Man, now I wish we could dig up our Dr. Who (Troughton years) tapes cuz hubby had all of them off-air. Is it true this purging by the BBC also occurred with the Pertwee years??

Yes, but through the hard work of the Doctor Who Restoration Society (or something like that) all of the Pertwee episodes have come back to us,

They were all different, which was one of the strengths of the program. It just depends on what sort of a character you liked. Tom Baker was the most alien, Davidson was the most human, McCoy was the most magical. I've not seen enough of the first two to really form an opinion, a bit before my time. I probably prefer Tom Baker, but then he had two of my favourite stories - 'Genesis of the Daleks' and 'Pyramids of Mars'.

For me this is an easy question. Colin Baker's doctor though I have to say that Sylvester McCoy's doctor is running a close second.

One plug for British actors...after having seen most of the doctors and many of the companions as well as the whole Blake's 7 cast, I can honestly say that they are funnier, more friendly, and more entertaining than many (if not most) of the American actors I've seen at conventions. Brit actors were also more accessible to fans at the conventions which was something I really liked. There are, of course, exceptions to accessibility on the part of American actors. No one was nicer or more open to fans (at least from my experience with years of convention-going) than Mark Leonard (most notable as Spock's father, etc. from Star Trek). And Jonathan Harris (who I never met but was always kind and gratious enough to do the Christmas card swap every year and to answer my one other general letter a year). Anyway, he was reputed to answer nearly all his fan mail and was open to the public at conventions. Jerry Doyle also fits in here...at least he did at the start of his career on Babylon 5 (I hope that never changed).
