  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Your question being:

It depends on which polls you rely on to determine who is the front runner opponent. Many of them say it's Warren who is the front runner. Also keep in mind that it's 13 months until the election and way too soon for Trump to spend any real effort investigating any of them at this time. Biden has been making too many mistakes at this point to be called a clear front runner or the most likely to be elected in 13 months.

Interesting you still aren't answering the question but again deflecting. It is also worth pointing out that Trump, through his previous comments, appears to fear running against Biden.

I don't feel the need to answer a question exactly as it is asked if the question is based on a false premise. It no different than asking a guy if he still beats his wife. If the premise of the question is based on something false, then it can't be answered directly.

So perhaps you should have said that to him. So, to "unload" the question: Why do you think Trump suddenly wants Biden investigated?

I find it particularly interesting since the Ukrainian investigation, closed in 2017, found no wrongdoing by the Bidens. So why the sudden interest in a new investigation, when there appears to be no new evidence? Additionally, if there was evidence of Joe Biden stopping the loan himself, and not being sent as a US envoy, that evidence would also be here in the US. I'm not sure what the Ukraine was going to add, particularly since Biden already admits to getting the prosecutor fired.

Read the memo and you'll see that Trump already answers that question.

Also, there are people in Ukraine who also want Biden investigated, so it's not just an American election-meddling thing like those in the party opposite Trump keep trying to make it out to be. Ex-Ukrainian PM: Ukraine must investigate Joe Biden’s son

Except Trump was calling for an investigation into Joe Biden, and again, he never asked Barr. Instead, he sent his personal attorney who did not coordinate with either the State department (other than having them set up a meeting) or the DoJ.

Ok, let's take a look at the question you asked and won't let go of:

Are you seriously going to try to claim this sudden interest in having Biden investigated has nothing to do with him being Trumps front running opponent?

You can "thrust" this question at me and demand a direct answer as if the question was totally based on fact (which, as I pointed out, it isn't), or you can be open to correction. It's your choice. However, it's not on me if you don't make the correct choice.

What false premise?

That Biden is the front runner. As I've pointed out, that's not only debatable, but way too soon to be determined to mean much at this point to make the current situation with Ukraine to be worthwhile if it was just a big move by Trump to influence an election that's 13 months away.

Absolutely true. The notion, apparently taken for granted by all the commentators, that Biden had to be derailed by Trump, doesn't even make sense.

Biden would self-destruct on the campaign trail and be 'easy pickins' for Trump in any case. That the President would feel he needed to make a special effort to damage him at this early stage is unpersuasive to say the least!

Funny, that is what they said about Trump in 2015. I've been interested in Biden's mistakes and, what I'm seeing, he seems to have adopted the same strategy Trump did in 2015 -- to either ignore the fact he misspeaks or to double down on those things. I actually think this may be part of why Trump may feel threatened by Biden, along with the fact that current polls show Biden badly beating Trump in the election in about a year.

LOL, not too soon for a 10 million dollar ad purchase by the Trump campaign on Friday...guess who is the focus?

It almost sounds like you're saying that the people (even from the democrat party) want more of what Trump does and says, but in a different package.

I didn't know it cost 10 million dollars to post a video on Twitter.

@TimMurtaugh
Tim Murtaugh Retweeted Donald J. Trump

New @realDonaldTrump ad on cable & digital starting Sunday. $10M buy, incl separate $2M RNC buy. It features Joe Biden's big Ukraine scandal and Dem plans to steal the 2020 election with impeachment. Dems want to deny people the opportunity to vote to re-elect the President!

Fair enough.
Keep in mind though that Trump has said things against many people, such as AOC and her squad friends, Adam Schiff, Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi. Also against other candidates such as Bernie Sanders. It doesn't indicate anything other than that he hits back against those who take shots at him.

Yes. Because the important point of the question I asked was not if you thought Trump was investigating a political rival, but if he was definitively the front running rival. Tap dance some more. I'm sure that will help sway people to you point of view. <Roll eyes>

Only in the sense that Trump took votes away from the Democrats; it seems to be those blue collar voters who liked Trump style. Also, Biden (not the Democrats as a whole) likely think maybe the can get some other Trump voters, as well.

OTOH, Trump didn't appear to hold funds that were authorized to be paid to the Ukraine to "dig up dirt" on those others, like it appears he did with Biden.

Again, the "dig up dirt" line is a Schiff concoction that his followers like to run with.
