I admit for me coffee is a drug. I am not a morning person and have to get up early to get kids ready for school, and I also have it to balance the sleepy side-effects of medicines I am on.
Does having coffee equal sin though? If yes, then don't eat any food - full of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, amino acids and other nasty minerals. Don't drink any water - full of dangerous dihydrogen monoxide, responsible for many fatalities already this year....

I didn't read all the previous posts, and I'm sure there's been quite a debate. as someone very interested in health, I've looked quite intently at the coffee issue. I quit coffee long ago, so I wasn't looking for person usage reason, but because I want to know the truth. as far as being a sin, It could be for one person, but maybe not for another. The Bible is clear, however, that we are not to be under the power of anything but Almighty God's power and guidance. So if it's an addiction, be it coffee, shopping or mowing the lawn, there is sin involved.

But here's the thing from a health topic, yes it has antioxidants, but all plants have them, even poisoness ones. And from the point of view of your adrenal glands, which, by the way, are involved in more than fifty of your bodies processes and functions, anything containing considerable levels of caffiene taken on a daily basis--is poinson. We have a certain capacity for energy output. Period. Amen. When we try to use caffiene to push out more energy, it's being robbed from one body system to give the caffeine high to another body system. there's a crash coming. Maybe not today. Maybe not this year or next, but it's coming. There's no way around that unless God decides to give you a miracle. It's just how bodies are made. and it would be kinder to ourselves and our temples if we would eat good, whole foods and superfoods, drink appropriate quantities of filtered water, supplements, etc, and maximize the energy that is ours to have, rather than allowing caffeine create the illusion of having more energy. Because there will always be a price to pay, when you rob Peter to pay Paul. be it your check book or your body, in the end, if the bottom line doesn't balance neither do you.

Spoken by an ex-ten-cup-a-dayer. I know of what I speak. I've been there, so I'd appreciate if you didn't do that. Please pm me if you would like more info.

blessings,
a

I gave up coffee during a fast 2 years ago, I never bothered drinking it again after the fast.
It was not that it was a sin issue for me, in fact I do not know why I stopped.

I think sugar is more of a problem as far as addictions go anyway, but that is just my opinion.

My mother in-law runs/owns a Christian coffee shop The Blend and I am a Barista there and make my living by making coffee drinks and serving up espresso for people. I guess I am going to hell for being a supplier of drugs. HAHAHAH what a crock some of you people crack me up here at least you are good for a laugh.

As long as it is not being put before God and is not an obsession it is fine and legal to drink coffee. No different than people who smoke it is legal and doesn't break any laws. It doesn't impair judgment and make one act like a fool.

It's a discussion forum. There's tens of thousands of posts here. It (caffeine) and other topics that don't seem so important are bound to come up from time to time.

According to some branches of Christendom, anything that is pleasurable is sin because it gives to the flesh and distracts from the spirit.

I myself drink decaf flavored. Due to medication, I can only have limited caffeine which I have in ice tea!

But yeah, Starbucks is definitely rolling in the dough! What makes me said is when I see young people getting Starbucks this or that.

Hmmm...my turtle lattes, sweet tea and short cokes vs eternal salvation?...we're doomed here in the south. LOL
I thought ice cream was made in heaven.
Yeah we are!

I was raised on ice tea, I can't remember a time it was not in my fridge growing up.

I think we all can agree that drinking coffee is not a sin and that this thread is straight up ridiculous.

That's pretty rude.

Same with gluttony too, eh? This is about far more than coffee.

It's about Christian hypocrisy and selective obedience.
