Hey! Really interested in finding his work now. I think I read the Great Divide years ago and if anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it!

Blessings!

The Great Divorce. Was C.S. Lewis a psychologist? This book made me believe so.

Without giving too much away, it's a series of letters by a senior devil, Screwtape, to his apprentice nephew, giving advice on how to tempt a young man who has recently become a Christian and lead him away from "the Enemy" (i.e. God). It is a brilliant, very insightful and often darkly funny work. Highly recommended.

By the way, elsewhere I was in a discussion that turned to the subject of there being different kinds of love other than "agape" and "eros" and it reminded me that C.S. Lewis wrote a book on The Four Loves. Has anyone here read it, and if so, what are your thoughts — is it another one for the must-read list? :)

My favourite fictional work of his is Till we have Faces.
It's a great book, a retelling of the myth of Psyche and Eros, from Psyche's sister's perspective. It has strong themes of religion, what constitutes reality and a sort of underlying existentialism. I reread it immediately after reading it the first time.

My favourite non-fiction is the Abolition of man, which alas seems to be becoming more and more topical each day.

The name of that book by C.S. Lewis is The Four Loves. The point of the book is that in English, we only have one word for "love," but in Greek, there are four words. The Greeks have a word for it! I am Greek, but I only knew three Greek words for "love" prior to encountering this book. The one that was new to me was STORGE. I'll bet you've never heard of it. "Storge" = the love between members of a family. A example would be mother love.
