By way of introduction...

Hi, my name is Jordan, I'm 19 years old, and I've been an unbeliever for the past year. Before that I was a lapsed Roman Catholic.

Out of curiousity, I'd like to know why it is the believers on this forum believe in god; what are the reasons?

I don't plan to argue over the reasons, I'd simply like to know more about you all.

I believe because it makes sense to me, it has the ring of Truth.
And I have searched for the past couple of decades for evidence, the evidence that the Bible mentions and the evidence that God would have left for an unbelieving generation.
Look for the unanswerable and paradoxes.
And I believe because to search with all of your heart is the way to get Gods attention, and God will reveal Himself to you if you only search for Him. You can KNOW that God is real, but you must have faith. The search can go for decades before you finally understand.

so far as it goes, the important thing regarding Christianity is to have a personal relationship with God, and that means - experience.
Everyone comes to it differently. For me... why i believe in Him is because He's so real in my life (not that i didn't doubt Him in the first place). He's changed my heart and mind and made me see my inner self, sinful! but He's also given me hope and security, and most importantly... love.

there was a time when i was angry over a person, and the Lord melted it all away and turned my anger to joy. When i was afraid (mostly all the time), He is secure rock and comfort for me. When i feel worthless, He gives me back my confidence, and when i look around, His presence is everywhere.

Hey! I'm Laura, and I'm 19 too.

I believe in God because I can feel Him. I know He's there. I know He's watching over me. I know that He cares about me. I don't really know how to explain it...I don't think I'm doing a very good job...

I believe because in following His truth it has set me free from guilt and shame. All I need to do is put my faith in Him. There is no easier way to get into Heaven and feel clean at the same time. I have lots of reasons.

I believe because He has shown me His great and awesome love! I grew up in church and thought I was Christian until about 6 years ago. Several things happened in my life that just totally rocked my world. Instead of turning to God, I became angry at God and I ran from God. I will never forget how I felt when I seperated myself from God. Despairing, hopeless, unloved. About 3 years ago, I finally decided I needed to get straight with God. Ever since, He has shown me how much He loves me. I know He is in my heart because of the different way I respond to things now. I don't want to ever live without Him in my life again! Not saying that everyday is flowers and hearts, but ultimately, I know that God is in charge and that helps me get through the rough spots!
