CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lady Kate, I like the way you think. Yes it is unbelievable how fear is being used today, it is almost as if.... nah couldn't be
. As a child I was taught that if one has Christ in their heart then there is No need for fear, now as an adult Knowing Christ IS in my heart comforts me beyond words. A frequent prayer of mine is, 'Dear Heavenly Father, Please forgive me my fear', then I go to work on mustarding up my faith by looking for the good in people/in the world. After all God don't make junk.

No reason both couldn't happen... Seeing as how most people see the "War on Terror" as a "war on Islam," if another attack were to happen, what better way to cover up martial law than to hide it in religious fervor?

Public approval for the job that Congress is performing -- 11 percent in the new survey -- matches the all-time low that Reuters found last month.

Nope, because history shows they want to take away our freedoms....they tell us where to send our kids to school, want to control what we eat, drink and smoke...as well as where. They make a habit of redefining our Consitution to fit their socialist agenda. \

Yep we have majority liberals in congress now.
Congress approval rate is aboiut 15 % now and that is about half of Bush approval rate.

Honestly, todays definition of conservative and liberal absolutely blows my mind. Pro-preemptive strikes = conservative? pro-war = conservative? Let's get them before they get us = conservative? Where did diplomacy go? Oops I forgot, no diplomacy for the axis of evil = conservative. AND NEVER Mind that we have kept or appointed (along with Britain) most the dictators in power so we could assess to their precious oil. What a ridiculous myth that they hate us for our freedom, it is more that they hate us for our policy that henders their own lack of freedom. Two excellant articles on this subject,

Late on the Wednesday afternoon before the Thanksgiving holiday, the US Defense Department confirmed the contents of a report by the Defense Science Board that is highly critical of the administration's efforts in the war on terror and in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The report had been originally placed on the DSB's website in early November.
'Muslims do not hate our freedom, but rather they hate our policies [the report says]. The overwhelming majority voice their objections to what they see as one-sided support in favor of Israel and against Palestinian rights, and the long-standing, even increasing, support for what Muslims collectively see as tyrannies, most notably Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan and the Gulf states. Thus, when American public diplomacy talks about bringing democracy to Islamic societies, this is seen as no more than self-serving hypocrisy.'
