I'm not sure how they score the tests, but a 13 min multiple choice test that rewards you for finishing quickly seems a bi fishy to me. Wonder what would happen if I just raced through the test answering true on all questions?

Thank you for taking the IQ Test at www.IQTest.com.

We are confirming that your IQ Test score was: 104
Allright, maybe the test designers were smarter tham me after all.

I scored 104 by just going down the list and answering true....so that should make you feel special

Ahh, there we go. I managed to sneak the mail past the filters... And sure enough, they add you to a permanent list, so be SURE to get off their list, if you use their test!
Not that it's any of my business, but the score? I'm expecting record breaking numbers here.

Whelp... I'm LOL again, because I may be a lot smarter'n Bush... but that just means I am even smarter than Kerry than I am smarter than Bush ^_^ ! I'm sorry; :D this line of discussion just keeps coming up (not only here, but also on other boards I frequent) and for some reason, it sets me to LOL every time I see a thread on this topic. LOL!!! *shrug*

Editing to add:

Don't people realize how absolutely unimportant this issue really is, or how an IQ score is determined? The reality is that for all intents and purposes, the difference between the IQ score of, for example, 102 and 105, or 110 and 112, is so nominal as to render the scores essentially equal. I really don't understand why this seems to be such a big issue for people in this election (and the last, apparently), which just gets me to chuckling, I guess.

Now lets get Bush and Kerry to both do the test (and make sure Bush doesn't have a radio receiver or anything) - No help from Edwards or Rove, and we'll know once and for all.

Who here has the ear of these two? We need to know, it's of national importance!!

I know people in MENSA, and frankly I don't think I'd want to be a member.
I was in this a long time ago, and used to get the magazine. When I got round to reading it - I was very idealistic at the time - I was very shocked by how intelligence was exalted as a value in itself, or viewed as something that unites a group of people, rather than as a means to truth. It was remarkable how unreflectively opinionated the correspondance was, as if it was quite enough in favour of a view that it should be held by an intelligent person.
The idea of a magazine only for people of a certified level of intelligence strikes me as rather ludicrous, and becomes more so when you find that the level of the articles is actually no higher than what you would expect from a national newspaper.

And I'm smarter than all three of you.

However, what I don't understand it this - according to your score (119) you were between 115 and 120 (turns out that 116 was the number) - yet somehow this guy is able to place Bush at "mid 120s" and Kerry at "about 120" so at most theres probably 6-7 points in it based on a test that seems to only roughly accurate anyway?

Not that any of it is relevant - IQ is a measure of appitude on IQ tests really.
Exactly... IQ doesn't mean much. I have an IQ of 146... been tested three times. The guy who discovered why the Challenger blew up had an IQ in the 110's somewhere. So, according to IQ tests, I am smarter than him, but honestly you can put a basic algebra question in front of me and I am lost.

Actually, Richard Feynman tested at 124 in his youth. This was before he was a physicist, worked at Los Alamos during the invention of the Atomic Bomb, won a Nobel Prize and (much later) figured out that the O-rings on the Challeger had failed when they froze just before and during take off.

My guess is that, had he been interested enough to take an IQ test later in life, he would have scored a bit higher. But he does provide an excellent example of why IQ scores should not be used to limit people.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the one I took was at iqtest.com

I had a little trouble when I did it, as it makes reference to specificallt Amecian things (US currency, quarters, nickels dimes etc and imperial measurements).

There are also many other tests I have taken online, but most I think are of the sort that cannot be discussed on these forums.

According to iqtest.com, I have a 147 IQ. At age 18. As much as I'd like to be an "Advanced Genius," as someone else said, I'm pretty sure that's not the case. I'm smart, but not THAT smart. (Than again, I did get a 1500 SAT). I wouldn't trust an online IQ test.

I only posted it because everyone is so convinced that kerry was so much smarter than President Bush. And just for the record, I don't believe in online IQ test. Taking an actual IQ test is an investment of time and money, its not something you do on your computer inbetween post. I suspect these sites flatter you inorder to get the sucker to pay the five bucks and order the full profile.

And finally their are eleven different measures of intelligence and a real IQ test only measures or attempts to measure three of them.

Actually, so far, all the online tests I've done have come out lower than my "real" tests.

Also, uhm... "types of intelligence" is only sorta partially meaningful; there's a lot of very good research in the field, but IQ tests corellate strongly even with the things they don't directly measure.

FWIW, I don't necessarily think Kerry is smarter than Bush; just that Bush is currently impaired in some ways which I don't fully understand, and less inclined to introspection or self-correction.
