Exactly... IQ doesn't mean much. I have an IQ of 146... been tested three times. The guy who discovered why the Challenger blew up had an IQ in the 110's somewhere. So, according to IQ tests, I am smarter than him, but honestly you can put a basic algebra question in front of me and I am lost.

You make a great point. A friend of mine I used to work with had an IQ tested at 156, but his grammar and spelling were atrocious. He couldn't even spell "somewhere" correctly, but, hey... Mensa still accepted him. :)

Anyway, I find the preening, intellectual peacock flaunting his superior intellect about as immature as a 6' 7" muscle-bound bully flexing his strength over a scrawny, weaker person.

What about that whole thread you started to boast about how many pressups you could do?

Or did I imagine that? I think I need to get some fresh air.

Bush actually scored a few points higher on his SAT than me (I made a 1200, Bush made a 1206), and he scored higher on his ASVAB, the military IQ test than both John Kerry and Nicholas Vara (me) according to the New York Times.

According to Bush's record his IQ hovers around 120. Mine according to the military hovers around 116. The GT score which measures apptitude not what you know is something that Mr. Bush out scored both me and Mr. Kerry on at roughly the same age for all three of us. I scored a 119 which means my IQ is between 115 and 120, but an IQ test I took later placed it at 116. You only need a 110 to be an officer, apparently the President scored in the high 120's according to the NewYorkTimes. I guess he ant as stupid as we thinks.
Ah,
It's John Kerry and I.
If we be talkin bout proper edumacation.

I have been tested by a psychologist, and rated at between 145-150...

If you ask me, the whole presidential position is little more than a puppet head, who the various minders and advisors let him out of his box now and again. This scares me even more than the fact that the leader of the world could potentially be an idiot.

Experts don't even agree on a definition of intelligence, which is why IQ tests are so controversial. If there is a disagreement about the definition of intelligence, we can then wonder what IQ tests measure. When you look at the history of IQ tests, you will find the answer is easy: they measure "academic" intelligence. They were designed in the beginning of the 20th century to distinguish the children who could succeed in school from those who could not, so that only the ones who had potential to succeed were sent to school.

I don't put much stock in the validity of online IQ tests. All of the online tests seem to yield inflated scores - i generally get rated ~150 on them. I believe my actual tested IQ was closer to 130, though that was taken a long time ago. It would, however, likely correlate to my SAT score of 1340.

Further, IQ tests generally measure a relatively narrow type of aptitude, and doesn't always correlate well to ability to function in the world.
