  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What does that achieve? Except riots and unrest. Although I don't accept Muslims teachings and their views per se. Still I fail to see what this stunt accomplished. It stirs up dissent...and that was the outcome as we all saw. But do we need religious wars and violence based on blasphemy. I dont embrace the Muslim faith either....but unless its the curious arts of(acts 19) then should we resort to these things. In order to get our point across??

It was retaliation for Islamic disregard and destruction of many Bibles.

Muslim seems to feel their faith is worth more than others they arrogantly disrespect...

The God of the Bible and Koran are the same. Is what is missed by both sides. Holy Books are just that and should be honored by all.

Read the Quran.
Actually, I've read parts of the Quran. It's a fascinating read, but admittedly a little hard-going in places. Do I believe it is the word of God? No. Then, would I advocate burning it? No.

Allah = Satan ;)

Catechism of the Catholic church says otherwise -- Paragraph 841: The Church's relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."

So, let's see, I can choose between believing you or the authority of the holy Catholic and apostolic church? Hmm.

Conclusion: They worship the same God of Abraham. We understand that God is a Trinity, but they don't. They don't believe in Christ, same as the Jews. But it is the same God we worship.

I have no respect for the man doing this.

1) He's treating Islam as somehow worse than the many other false faiths by singling it out. They're all bad.

2) He's going, or at least tried to go up to Dearborn. This will cause a backlash against the Arab Christians who live there and already have to tread lightly.

Why am I supposed to care what the Catholics say?

And reading parts of the Quran won't do anything for you. Read the biography of the prophet so you can see the actual order in which the Quran was "revealed". You'll get to witness and understand the law of abrogation and how the earlier "peaceful" verses are replaced by the violent verses.

And if you REALLY think they worship the one true God, then perhaps you should read up in the ahadith about the Mahdi, the return of Jesus, and the Dajjal. Islam and it's end times prophecies are exactly opposite of ours and fit the nature of the beast in revelations to a T. So don't bother telling me that you know more than me just because the Catholic church says so.

Burning the Quran was completely stupid and is like pouring petrol (gasoline) onto a fire, it just makes the fire worse (the extremist islamist protesters are like the fire, they're in existance wether or not the quran was burnt).

But Trav is right, Islam as a religion is from Satan, it systematically undoes all God Achieved through Jesus, counter attacks the true salvation and their end time prophesy is the polar oppasite of the Revelation.

Also Sketcher the reason I think hes "singling out ISlam" is because its "in your face" out of all the religions, you only have to look on the internet to see them furiously trying to win converts, always from Christianity, its constant drivel that "Christianity is corrupted", but than its "Islamophobia" and "Bias" when we drag up their dodgy actions.

I can understand the desire to burn the koran, as it is a book filled with much poison. Of course, it's not all poison, or it never would be ingested. It's got enough good in it to provide cover for the bad.

I understand the frustration with hearing of the daily horrendous persecutions against innocent Christians either by Muslims believing they are following truth or by venal individuals simply taking advantage of an evil Muslim legal structure.

But I don't see the benefit of burning korans. God is doing an amazing work among Muslims, through televangelism, relational missions, and direct visions and visitations. God can and will use anything, but I can see koran burning doing more harm than good, in many cases at least. If we want to fight back, we probably should be doing so in intercessory prayer and action.

As for Acts 19, the book burning there was a renunciation by former practitioners of witchcraft. I doubt the people in Florida burning korans are fresh converts from Islam. They are burning as a political statement, not as personal renunciation. Politics has its place, and it's an important one, but ultimately politics is not going to solve this problem. We need to confront political correctness and cultural relativism hard, but the way to do it is by speaking the truth in love.
