  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do I treat mosquito bites? I used one of those sticks with the alcohol stuff in it, and that didn't help. I was at Creation this past week and got appr. 28 bites, just on my arms. :(:( It's actually kind of gross looking. . .

what can I do?

Take some Benadryl. I am highly allergic to mosquitos (as well as any other bug that bites!) and Benadryl works the best for me for the itching. I get large knots under the bites that also hurt, and I take a combo of Benadryl and Ibuprofen.

Also, a cortizone creme helps for an instant relief and won't burn like the alcohol on the scratches.

FYI - just a little tidbit, although it is too late now... :( To keep mosquitos from biting during the summer months, start taking Vit. B around the first of April and continue taking it through the summer months. It's important to start a few months before mosquitos get bad though. The Vit. B releases a scent from your body that mosquitos can smell, but humans can not. They won't bite you. My pediatrician shared this secret with my mom when I was very young because I was having such severe reactions to the bites. He said there really is no scientific reason why it works, but that it does - and I'm here to tell you, it really does. I've taken it every year that I remember to start early enough, and the years that I have taken it, I have managed to go the whole summer with less than 5 bites - a far stretch from when I don't take it! Give it a shot next year if you live in a heavily mosquito populated area like I do!

I thought about taking Benedryl. It usually works for me, but I have soccer practice everyday, and Benedryl makes me sleep. I don't think that would go over very well . . .

Thanks for the info. about Vit. B. I'll have to try it!

I tried to Gold Bond stuff today, and it seems to be working pretty well. Thanks again!

Haha - I forgot that Benadryl has that affect...to be honest, it doesn't make me sleepy. I think I've just gotten accustomed to it because it is one of the few things that helps me, and when I need it, I TAKE IT! lol They have a Benadryl creme too.

Glad the Gold Bond seems to be working for you! :)
