I don't know where you heard that, but that isn't true at all.

He was very well known for being friendly and outgoing, doting on his fans, helping struggling artists such as the Derailers, Terri Clark, Pat Green and, of course, Dwight Yoakam.

You seem to have some sort of personal thing against Buck Owens. Would you mind explaining that for us?

Hate to burst your bubble, but Buck was a jerk.

Years ago, (before Don Rich died), my dad had the displeasure to be on the same airline flight with Buck Owens for several hours.

They were seated in the first class section of the plane. My dad told me Buck Owens acted like an arrogant jerk, and was incredibly rude and condescending to the stewardesses the entire flight.

Well, let's see:

guitar and saxophone: Owens

Fiddle and songwriting: Haggard

Influence on other artists: Owens

I think the edge goes to Owens, but I don't think one is any more talented than the other. They're just differently talented.

DREAM ON! :D ^_^

Here's a direct quote from the official website of the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville:

"Merle Ronald Haggard remains, with the arguable exception of Hank Williams, the single most influential singer-songwriter in country music history."
