There are plenty of people in here that are accepting of the views of others. Try and look at it this way: He's not rejecting your views; he just has a different view, and he's expressing it in a caustic way. I don't think anyone's insulting you. It's Britney that's being insulted...

Well I'm not insulting you, it's not like you can help it, the media does everything to keep people listening to the music want. If I didn't accidentally find real good music on the internet, I would probably still be listening to linkin park or whatever, I'm just trying to open people's eyes so they can get the same advantage I was given. Don't limit your world of music to the radio and the tv!

I don't, I am a very open minded person and I listen to Britney because I like her. The first time I heard her song on the radio I loved it but I thought it was an old song, not some new pop puppet that I had to listen to!!!
My flatmates both like 'alternative' music, the kind of stuff that isn't played on the radio and I just don't like it all, I can't listen to it.
I am not drawn in by the media, in fact I am the one always saying to people that the media has too much power when they start saying to me that Britney's trashy, crazy etc. I am not taken in by any of that!!! I like her because I like her music, I like her as a person from what I've seen of her, I think she has a lot of talent and charisma and...her husband is hot.

just don't be surprised by the other side. i think her little episode with marrying her best friend, and call it a joke really hurt her reputation a lot.

i will always say her music will always hit with people who like that style of music. i don't like that style of music. and i do think she has dressed in her videos and the music awards trashy. i don't like what her, Christina Augelirra(sp?) and Madonna did.

but as she is being a full-time mom right now, and staying true to her marriage, she's probably come along way from being sucked into the mainstream music scene, to now actually acting better, and i hope dressing better for the sake of her child.

One of my best friends has a Masters in Philosophy is surrounded by all kinds of music from blues to jazz, writes reviews of classical music and STILL loves Britney Spears!
She listens to Genesis, Swing Out Sister, Mariah Carey, Rhianna (not Rihanna, though I've got her too), Frou Frou, Alizee, Salif Keita, Hil St Soul, Saint Etienne, Susana Baca and Lil Louis! Know them??? If you do and can give a critique of each of their albums then you are fit to tell me Britney fans need to branch out and discover 'real' music.

No I don't listen to those bands, my friend who is also a mega Britney fan does, I was just making a point that just because someone likes Britney doesn't mean they are ignorant to music.

And in response to the second part, I am all for people stating their opinions, this is the whole point, but not in such a rude way. I was blatantly being told that I'm wrong for liking someone.

Gah, I find it so hilarious when people take it so personally that everyone doesn't have the same music taste as them. I can't tell you how Linkin Park fans have gotten red-faced and raised their voice at me just because I dared to express my distaste in their music.

As far as Britney goes, she's annoying period. Her voice is annoying, her dancing is annoying, her songs are annoying, her marriage is annoying, her media whoring is annoying.

But if you wanna be her fan, more power to you, I guess.

By the way, listening to Mariah Carey and Frou Frou isn't exactly "branching out" music-wise for a Britney fan.

I've always thought of "alternative" as being a word to describe everything that's not played on the radio and mtv ad nauseam.

You can't force charisma on someone, you either have it or don't. And as I said before I listen to what I like not just whatever's on the radio and mtv. I don't have mtv or anyother music channels, and I don't listen to the radio!!!! None of you know anything about me so stop telling me I'm brainwashed!!

I do and I'm a guy. I never grew out out the whole birtney control the music industry faze. Still lover her performances (aleast she sings and dances and doesn't try to "rocker" like so many people today) and her videos are awesome. I don't care what people say, Britney is freaking talented!!!
