Bring Back the Bible?

The old forum had a bible section, and while it wasn't as good as biblegateway.com, it did auto-link scripture references to bible passages. When I hovered over the reference, a tooltip would pop up with the verse referred to, an admittedly useful feature.

The addon used for the Bible is no longer updated and as such doesn’t have a viable option from what I’ve found but going to take another look.

What about Reftagger? You can add the JS code to the template…no addon required.

Yes, I miss this feature. When you quoted a verse eg. John 3:16 it would be highlighted in blue, allowing you to click through to the Bible, to view the verse in greater context.

Yes, that's generally a good thing, though it linked to one of the least clear of all translations, what looked like an old version, possibly from 1901 (?) of I think the ASV. But even with that handicap of a sometimes hard to read translation, I thought it was good to have.

Perhaps this is an opportunity to improve that feature. I would recommend the NASB or ESV for the translation used. Maybe a "switch to KJV" option for all of the people who like KJV.

I'd hope the more accurate and more clear ESV would win that vote. If you like the NKJV, try out the ESV and see for yourself. (I've read through the bible in the KJV long before, and loved it..., so it's choosing between 2 wonderful translations that I say the ESV is even better as a translation)

It now will highlight verses and show the text when you click on it. Example: John 3:16
