  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My husband and I have been TTC for about 6 months. My period is due on Sunday or Monday, but I'm feeling a bit queezy now, which might be a good sign, although I usually don't feel sick until I'm at least 2 weeks late.

Anyway, last weekend I went to mum's place and had a bit of Brie or Camembert cheese on crackers. I have just heard that that is very dangerous for pregnancy, because of the listeria bacteria it contains.

I am now really worried. What if I've harmed my baby (if I'm pregnant). I would have eaten it about 6 days after conception. Does anyone know what my risks are?

If anybody knows anything about this, I would appreciate feedback.

I have a 2 year old daughter....I know it's scary to think about all that stuff, but I belive it's cheese like that in excess! If you only had a little bit then I'm sure you don't have anything to worry about!

As for me, we were on vacation and unknown to us I was already pregnant! (probably like 2 weeks) I was drinking banana daquiris & pina coladas like they were going out of style....now my daughter is crazy about bananas!! lol Go figure!! hehe

Praying for you...just mention any concerns to your OB to get the "official" word...but don't stress about it, or at least TRY not to stress about it!!

Jennifer, I don't think you have anything to worry about. It is true that doctors tell you to stay away from soft cheeses, lunch meat, hot dogs, etc. while pregnant, because of the possibility of the presence of listeria.

The listeria crosses the placenta, but since it's so early, there is no placenta yet (if you are pregnant), so I don't think the baby would be affected if listeria is an issue.

Relax. You'll be fine. And good luck I hope you are pregnant. (I'm also waiting right now). :)

With my first pregnancy I was on a round Australia missions trip, and eating whatever I could get my hands on. I didn't really know anything was wrong with eating deli meats and soft cheeses. So scoffed myself to my hearts content. I found out in around 2nd - 3rd trimester when we got home from our trip and all that. My son is just fine - perfectly normal.

I think if there was any danger to the baby, you would have been sick, because apparently (not too sure) if you get listeria it can make you quite ill. You would know about it I think.
