Ahhh, OK...I'd never noticed the "spoiler" thing before. How do you do that? That's pretty darn nifty.

I agree with a lot of your comments. I didn't like how so many loose ends seemed to be hastily, and even messily (is that a word? lol) tied up. I think she could have made the series longer than 4 books, frankly. Seems like way too much was shoved into Breaking Dawn. It's the least favorite of the 4, for me.

I agree that the spoiler tags are nice, they work well when a book or movie have just been released. They are much like quote tags, it is "[ spoiler=subject] enter spoiler text [ /spoiler]" (though you need to take the space out between the bracket and the word spoiler). Oh, while it is similar to the quote tag [ quote ] it does require the equals sign and subject, unlike quotes without a subject the tag won't work.

The above text creates:
enter spoiler text

I did not enjoy this book.

There were a few clever parts. I adored Jacob's chapter titles. That was very clever. Bella's titles are one-worders and Jacob's are full blown sentences. Artistically, I thought that was great.

I loved the blonde jokes and some of Emmett's lines. I was hoping to see a lot more of him.

The name Renesmee was ridiculous. I thought it was clever the way SM made us think the baby would be a boy. If she hadn't I think we might all have seen the imprinting thing coming. As it is, I was surprised by it and just cracked up laughing at the end of Jacob's book realizing what happened. Of course! The whole concept on of imprinting on an infant is creepy to me.

I felt like this book was too happy/happy. We got a happy ending at every single turn. The whole plot centered around making sure everyone left happy. There for a while I was worried that SM was going to have Jacob fleeing the country with his tiny bride-to-be, leaving a terrific set-up for a Jacob/Nessie series. I was glad that didn't happen.

I thought there was no point to Bella's shield encompassing the entire group of vampires on her side. I wanted her to be able to cover Nessie and Edward, perhaps, but everyone else should have had to fend for themselves. At least there might have been some action then. I thought it was unrealistic that, given previous set-ups, so many vampires could dwell in the same house for over a month. There should have been major disputes. It seemed like someone in the series should have been killed off. I don't know who, but at least it would have added some angst. I thought Bella taking to vampire-hood so naturally was far fetched and served only the purpose of wrapping the story up nicely. I didn't particularly want to read about a blood thirsty Bella, but it was to be expected. I thought she would be changed at the end of the story so we wouldn't have to witness it.

I think overall the wrong message has been sent out. I was thrilled at first the way SM had Bella and Edward wait for marriage. That was a good message. But Bella's entire being has been caught up with staying young, something we can't do. All of the sudden she goes from being a clumsy love sick teenager to being married with child. And she takes to the role without skipping a beat! All this time we've had Bella who couldn't stand the thought of marrying who obvious soul mate, yet she's ok with an unexpected pregnancy at the ripe old age of 18? I didn't buy that. The only realistic thing about the pregnancy was also most ridiculous. Only an 18 year old would name her baby "Renesmee".

I was a huge fan of the first three books. One was the best by far. Truly I tolerated book 2 and enjoyed all but the end of book 3. But this final installment I felt went too far.

You have completely stated everything I wanted to say. I'm sure we're not the only fans who felt this way, too. I highlighted your statements that really articulated my frustrations. I, too, like the first 3 books, and probably won't read this one again much.

I've been reading all the reviews on Amazon.com. It's rather amusing, if you're interesting. So many people feel this way.

I just think SM wanted to wrap everything up in a nice pink bow, but it failed miserably. I'm all for happy endings, but to get these happy endings so much had to be contrived.

One thing that has bothered me from the beginning is something she set up so perfectly in Twilight. Edward is a Vampire, something we can't get around. He's something so evil even he is not sure where he will end up in the afterlife. He does not consider himself to be one of God's creatures. Furthermore, he has a nearly undeniable thirst for blood and what I loved so much about him was his strenght in denying his very nature for the love of this girl. This was set up beatufully in Twilight and was the core of the entire story. Even in New Moon when Jasper tries to go after Bella, Carlise is the only one who can stand to be around her. Even Edward finally has to leave the room. He is still tortured by this. Then in Eclipse, suddenly it's a non issue. It's explained away in one sentence! And from then on, no one in the entire vampire clan is dangerous to humans in any way. So in 119 years Edward couldn't control his vampire self without great self-restraint, but enter Bella and he's cured.

Also in Twilight, the family was rather brooding and dark. That quickly ended.

In Breaking Dawn, there was nothing to ground Bella. I loved the fact that in the first three books Bella was firmly grounded in reality. The reader grasped the concept that she had to keep this secret and that she was a normal teenager in a real high school. Outside of the short wedding, the only human was Charlie who was always over-protective and high strung and he simply accepts what has happened. And he's in no danger at all.

And why did Jacob have to imprint on the baby? What would be so wrong with beginning a let's-see-where-this-goes relationship (without imprinting) with Leah?

And is anyone else bothered by the way EVERYONE has a super power? It's more like they're superheros than vampires. I thought the super power thing was supposed to be special, not something every vampire had. It completely takes away from the powers being special. They're not special at all. It's just a matter of figuring out what yours is.

I'll close with the most irksome thing to me. We had all that set up about the self-sacrifices Bella would have to make for Edward. She made none. She got a pretty darn perfect life, and it makes being a vampire much more glamorous than being a human. Anyone would make the same choice Bella did a thousand times over. She wasn't a monster in any way, and for that matter, neither was anyone else in the entire book.

I'm sure I'll find more to say. It's nice getting this all of my chest. ^_^

I actually loved Breaking Dawn...

but was sort of upset that we didn't get to see the rest of the 'humans' around the end. I think that I'm sort of reiterating kris10leigh is saying. but what I mean is that I was a little disappointed that Bella didn't get to meet with her old friends, for example, Angela, who I was hoping that Bella would have a stronger relationship with.

Oh well, but all in all, I thought it was a pretty good wrap up of the saga.

I finished Breaking Dawn a couple of weeks ago. Part of me was like 'this is just a little too perfect,' but after I thought about it for a while, I came to the conclusion that Bella should have her happy ending; she certainly deserved as much, after all she went through, so why not? It's fiction, and part of the beauty of fiction is that we can have the happy endings we may not achieve, or have achieved, in reality. (I'm still not 100% on board with the Jacob/Renesmee situation though, for all those who know what I'm talking about).

I absolutely love this series, they're the best books I've ever read I reckon :)

I quite liked all of the books, and will definitely read them over and over and over again :)

Stephenie Meyer's other book The Host is also really good, thoroughly enjoyed that one too, and I've heard that there may be more called The Soul and The Seeker so I'm really looking forward to those.

As for Midnight Sun, I am really looking forward to reading that one too, but I've heard somewhere or read somewhere a rumour that she may not be continuing with that book because someone leaked parts of it on the internet ... does anyone know if this is true?
